I swear the Riverclan OOTS apprentices are living through some unseen tragedy drama that arc
I imagine he and Rushtail (paw) were deemed troublemakers well before the incident that almost killed Reedwhisker, but it was a big turning point. Mossyfoot and Troutstream bullying gets worse, the clan's opinion of them as a whole plummets, and considering Reed is Hollow's mentor, things probably get complicated there too.
I've been consideringgg in rudyverse this situation whereee it's highly suspected he was born out of a relationship with a rogue, further bolstered when his mother leaves the clan soon after he's weaned. [Not totally certain on it yet since I don't think it's necessarily Needed for the following events to play out but⬇️]
⬆️I think it's best if he's pretty much totally lacking any support system in Riverclan, particularly after the incident. Also gives the clan a reason to sort of favor Rushpaw- Allowing him to sort of lean into their idea of Hollowpaw as the instigator and Rush more as being influenced by him. Which lets Rushtailpaw work his way out of this social pit while only burying Hollowflightpaw deeper [And then he can be burdened by the ramifications of his actions later when Hollow is dead]
Soo Hollowflight is ulta isolated within his clan, dealing with guilt and bullying and separation from his formerly close friend. He's a prime vulnerable target for the dark forest to recruit. Even as a trainee he seems a bit overlooked, but he clearly feels more like a part of a community there than anywhere else.
He gets a bit of positive attention from Ivypool early on, and it feels like he spends the rest of his short life chasing that. But she's obviously superfocused on her whole spying thing and the weight and trauma put on her own shoulders, so she hardly seems to notice it. Thinking about this scene especially
And then he dies with practically zero acknowledgement in the great battle ]E> sad
wow what a cute male character with a good connection to ivypool i sure hope he doesn't die and instead ivy falls in love with her cousin with no proof of their past chemistry
