Asa F? (Foreign location)
One thing was for sure- this was not the Astral Plane. Asa wasn’t sure what she had expected- the old gnome at the festival offering 'Round-trip Plane Shifts' hadn’t exactly screamed “honest”. But it was her day off and she’d detected illusion magic around her, and thought an illusory trip to the Astral Plane might be a fun way to spend a few gold pieces. But now, as she was quickly learning, the vendor hadn’t even gotten the spell right. She was standing on a narrow stretch of dirt between two large patches of waist-high grass and weeds, in a place that looked nothing like Kintargo but was unmistakably still the Material Plane. The illusion was well-crafted, though, and Asa decided to look around before it ended. She was only a few steps into the tall grass- noting, as she walked, how realistic it felt- when her foot hit something and made a soft clunk. Whatever it was had been light, and she bent down to investigate. Two things happened then- a weight she had gotten so used to she no longer noticed it disappeared off her shoulder, and a small human child came running up to her from somewhere she hadn’t seen.“Are you ready for battle?” he asked, determination all over his face. “I’ll beat you easily!” Asa blinked.“Why?” she asked before peering down into the grass. “Wooster, you came into the illusion too?”“When trainers lock eyes, they have to battle,” the boy explained, looking confused. “You’re a trainer, right?”“I’m a merchant,” Asa told him. “What’s a trainer?” “You’re not- Lady, what are you doing in the tall grass if you’re not a trainer?” His tone was filling with panic. “The wild Pokemon will attack!”“The wild what?” Before the child could answer, a small figure zoomed out of the tall grass in a flurry of shiny wings. “Mistress, look at this device!” When Wooster had slowed enough, Asa could indeed see he was holding a small red and white ball like the boy carried, opened on a hinge in the middle like a box. He looked ecstatic.“I’ve never seen anything like it! Oh, I must take it home and study it!”“What kind of Pokemon is that?” the boy asked, staring at Wooster.“That’s Wooster,” Asa answered, noticing that her friend was too excited to pay much attention. “What is that? Is it a trinket box?” “I’m not sure!” Wooster exclaimed. “But I think there’s a mechanism- if you press here- oof!” He disappeared in a tiny burst of light and Asa yelped, catching the ball- which seemed to have grown when he pressed the button- before it could hit the ground.“What did it do?” she asked the child. “What is that?” “It’s just a Pokeball,” he frowned at her. “Looks like you caught- aw, too bad.” The ball in Asa’s hand sprung open, and the burst of light became Wooster and shot out of it. The ball fell to pieces in her hand.“Are you okay?” she asked.“That was- ah, not fun,” Wooster shook himself off. “But that machine! Can we take one home?”
