Arman: *loses Glacia in a crowd*
Arman: "HOLOGIS IS FOR CHUMPS!!!"
Glacia: *shoving her way through the crowd* "WhAt dID you sAY?? What the f%#& did you just say???"
Arman: "There she is."
secondgenprofessor how did you like the Hologis tournament? :)
Would anyone be interested in helping to crowdfund a hologram-based futuristic sport?
So this is for real. I’ve been making the rounds and getting in contact with a few engineers/scientists who work with holography. In my sci-fi books, there’s a sport called Hologis that is basically dodgeball mixed with lasertag set in a giant maze arena.
We have the technology to make this...at least on a small scale, to start.
Think about it. Bored on a Saturday afternoon? Get your friends and run on over to the local Hologis arena and get a few hours of exercise running around in an arena, throwing holographic balls at each other and avoiding being eliminated.
Fun, adrenaline, and exercise. AND FREAKING HOLOGRAMS.
What more could you want?
Imagine watching this on TV. Or going to the stadium and cheering on your team. Or playing it yourself. People, THIS IS THE FUTURE OF SPORTS.
So, obviously funding will be needed, and I can’t do this on my own. Would you put into something like this? (Please note, I am not currently crowdfunding this or asking for money. This is just a poll.)
Let me know what you think! If you want more info about what Hologis is, shoot me a message. I have the rules manual, how it’s set up, knock-out system, etc etc.
WHAT IS HOLOGIS???
It’s a futuristic sport in my book, Embassy. It’s only like, THE COOLEST SPORT EVER. Yeah. Some cities, the arena isn’t that impressive. Other cities, the people live and breathe Hologis.
Imagine this: FRIGGIN’ HOLOGRAPHIC DODGEBALL MIXED WITH LASERTAG
^^^the Hologis spheres might look something like that. They have all different patterns and change color according to the team who throws one.
In Embassy, Arman and Co. play in a tournament the Undil Embassy is hosting to celebrate the incoming class of recruits. BAM. You’ve got 100 people in this 3-story maze wielding holographic spheres of death, carnage, blood of a sacrificed lamb, HOLOGRAPHIC AWESOMENESS and they’re randomly drawn into teams: red, blue, yellow, green (yeah, real fancy).
Here’s the catch: at the start of the game, YOU COULD BE STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO THE ENEMY. You could be blue, he could be red, and oh snap, we’ve got trouble. See that Hologis sphere 20 feet away? You better be the one to get it, or else you’re sitting on the sidelines for the rest of the tournament.
So you’ve got 100 people running around this arena chuckin’ HOLOGRAPHIC AWESOMENESS at each other, jumping off walls, running up ramps, and breakin’ out MATRIX MOVES TO DODGE HOLOGIS SPHERES.
People, I wrote an ENTIRE CHAPTER revolving around this tournament. 18 pages of Hologis. Go read the reviews. Almost every single person said Hologis was their favorite part of the book.
Yeah, it’s THAT cool.
When 50 people remain, watch out.
When 25 people remain, run for it.
And when 10 people remain, let’s play some hot potato, shall we?
Seriously, Hologis. It’s in my book, Embassy. You’ll love the tournament. You’ll be begging for more. And hey, if enough people start spamming the engineers, maybe they’ll create this tournament in real life.
Trust me, you’ll want to play it.
Interested? Check it out. Chapter Nine in my book, Embassy.

Chapter 9 of Embassy...the Hologis tournament! I’m not kidding when I say that almost every single person who has reviewed this has said the Hologis Tournament was their favorite scene in the entire book. Think “lasertag mixed with holographic dodgeball set inside a giant maze.”

Next, Before the Beginning, and POV :) if you want to
NEXT: The sun is rising over the ocean, tinting thesky and all the towers gold.
BEFORE THE BEGINNING: Arman Lance traveled fifteen light-years across the galaxy to a different planet. The planet’s ecosystems are deteriorating, so the crew on board the fleet needed to take samples and synthesize a formula to help slow the planet’s decline. Arman eventually became Head Archivist of his fleet and has to organize a program that will catalog and track the status of other inhabited planets around the galaxy.
POV: *during the Hologis tournament, Chapter 9 of Embassy, from Glacia Havern’s POV*
Voices, two aisles down. I look back–yes. The orb is where I left it. And nobody’s following me. I’ll make this quick.
Closer…closer. I’m right at the edge of the stadium, and all eyes are on me. I know they can see the others, Arman and Lucas Starmile and the yellow players who were chasing them. Question is, how close am I?
Doesn’t matter.
One. Two.
Three.
I throw myself around the corner–and Arman is standing right there, right in the middle of the aisle, watching Lucas, I’m guessing. He has no idea I’m charging right at him.
“MMPH!”
I slam into his side. We skid behind the next wall and I’m careful not to tag him out with my hologis orbs. Arman groans under me. He’s clutching his ribs, but I have to hurry up. A yellow orb just ricocheted off the stadium barrier. The yellow team is scrambling, and Lucas is deflecting their orbs.
Arman’s eyes meet mine. My hair falls on his forehead, and I brush it off when I lift my left hand, orb at the ready.
“Having fun now?”
I tag him out, jump up, and run.
