thank u for looking out for us arabs. love you soph ♡ and i agree that arabs should be taking arab roles but they keep ignoring us. it’s so sad but i’m used to it, even when disney is all about being culturally aware in their movies and remakes but then they did aladdin. yknow? so at this point i’m ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

you don’t need to thank me for that at all, it’s just basic awareness :) to fight for a few but not all is to fight for nothing. arabs and middle eastern actors deserve to see themselves in main roles, especially when their culture has been practically usurped. it makes me so angry that we only ever see them as terrorists or merchants because apparently they can be nothing else?? it’s disgraceful and absolutely insensitive.

disney is soooo not culturally aware and there are plenty of examples to back that up. aladdin is the perfect example. i’m so sorry that that is what people think arab culture is like, you deserve far better than a hackneyed, inaccurate and insensitive portrayal of such a rich culture. i’ve legit never liked aladdin, but especially bc it just perpetuated weird “exotic” stereotypes that just lead to more racist depictions in the media.
