Hello, welcome to my blog!

Here, I do reblog or post other content, although I am mostly interested in Holy Rome from Hetalia. If you are curious about my thoughts on him, then feel free to message me or leave a comment on one of my posts :) I love talking about him, whether the young, old, or female him. But I personally love portraying him as older and female. Despite that, I write non-ship posts about HRE as male because it is his canon gender.

Talking about the "HRE is Germany theory," I think Hima leans towards this theory more than not, but I hope that he would remain vague about it to please everyone. Personally, I don't want him to be Germany in canon because the Holy Roman Empire had historical differences with Germany that I feel would be overshadowed if the two ended up being the same person. I also have my own interpretation of the character, which does not align with how I interpret Germany. But I deeply deeply love using the theory for narrative purposes, and I think HRE!Germany without amnesia would be different than with.

It's interesting to imagine Holy Rome and the Papal States together, not together in that they were in a relationship but in a way that they were interacting with one another. It's because their history is interesting. We have the Pope deciding to crown a Germanic ruler as an emperor, leading to the beginning of what would later be called the Holy Roman Empire. As the highest secular power, the Emperor had the responsibility of protecting the Catholic Church and the whole of Christendom. And yet, despite, the Pope being the one who helped in the creation of the Empire and crowned the next emperor for centuries which signified divine sanction, they experienced conflicts with one another, most notably the Investiture Controversy. They were supposed to be helping one another as the leaders of the Catholic World, and yet here they were fighting one another. Holy Rome and the Papal States were more powerful when working together but they ended up being against one another, and they were both aware of that. That's why they could hate one another anytime they wanted, but they could not really want the other to completely disappear because they recognized how necessary the other were to them. Also, having them indulge in corruption would reflect how even the people we looked up to or supposed to be "good" in terms of their religiousness were not as perfect as we thought them to be. It would reflect how corrupt humanity could be, despite having roles that required them not to be corrupt or to be an example.

Listening to "The Night We Met" by Lord Huron again, and I think it also fits the Papal States and Female Holy Rome, especially the version of the song featuring Phoebe Bridgers. It fits how their closeness decreased over time. How his leader's influence slowly deteriorates in her empire. Or their empire. And the Empire eventually dissolved, taking her with it to death.

This song cover is so beautiful, so angelic, and I can't help but imagine Female Holy Rome and the Papal States during the Papal-Imperial conflicts (Investiture Controversy) and the 19th century. The song fits them so much because of the religious connections and the complicated history between the Pope and the Holy Roman Emperor, who were also both leaders of Christendom. The Spiritual and the Secular Authority. The Sun and the Moon.

"I've seen your flag on the marble arch Love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah" Certain lines make me think of the Papal States saying nice things about her or admitting that he liked her, hoping to mend their relationship, only for him to regret his words and take them back. He eventually admitted that what he said in the past was true on her deathbed, filling her eyes with tears. But they didn't have enough time to spend together after that before she died.

"I did my best, it wasn't much I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool ya" I don't see them getting into a relationship and can only see them acknowledging their romantic feelings if they ever have such. I can just imagine them looking at each other with an understanding of what the other felt. This kind of love is captivating. The feelings are mutual, and you both know it, but the line ends only in acknowledgement and silent appreciation.

Imagining the Papal States being so excited when a letter arrived and then his mood changing when he saw Holy Rome's name written on it makes me so amused. Same for HRE reading his name on a letter and turning sour because of it.
