All Souls’ Day isn’t just a catholic thing. All around the world people remember their dead on this day and others. Why remember the dead? Isn’t God a God of the living? Yes He is! And the living are all dead in Him through Christ Jesus. When we remember the dead in Christ, we fulfill the Lord’s command to His chosen people to keep remembrance of His wonders and to never forget He is Lord and we are His people. What happens in death is a great mystery and salvation belongs to the Lord. What is between man and God at the hour of his death or at the last trumpet call is known only in the heart. But we do know this, the fervent prayers of the righteous avail much. This is why we pray, Lord God, Master of the Universe, in whom every soul is conceived, have mercy on us and all the souls who have passed on before us that they may rise on the last day having put off the perishable for the imperishable, the mortal for the immortal! By the precious blood of the Lamb that was slain, Jesus, forgive us our sins save us from the fires of hell have mercy on us, especially those souls in most need of thy mercy. 🙏🏼 • I tell you this, brethren: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable nature must put on the imperishable, and this mortal nature must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." {1 Corinthians 15:50-54} • How beautiful the pathway home, follow the lights away from the darkness.
