Story time. (Posted here from my comment on a SVT subreddit post about SEVENTEEN ult biases)
Hanging with a friend in my apartment. She had just got me to begin hyperfixating on kdramas - even though animes have been my point of joy for years.
She was like hey, want to show my favorite performance on YouTube on the James Corden show. It was 13 guys singing and dancing with such theatricality and synchronicity and in ✨️suits✨️.
And, one of them had dark maroon hair and a brown cream suit and was fairly tall. Seeing him sing and dance, I perked up. I said out loud ooooo who is that?!
I told her oh that was cute and then just went on my merry way inside my mind.
I also explained to her a couple months later that it was easier to hear their hip hop songs than some of their other songs because I really thought their hip hop songs are really good. The more I listened to those songs the more I liked SEVENTEEN. (Shout out to the Hip Hop Unit!)
This whole time up until like a year ago (Lollapalooza... and by then, I was really starting to be down bad) I thought for some reason I thought the maroon-haired guy from her showing Home;Run on James Corden was Vernon ... so I had thought Vernon was the first to enter my bias line because Vernon is a vibe!
However, over the first year of becoming a CARAT I started to notice that the quiet black-cat guy with glasses always caught my attention during performances and during the small amounts of Going Seventeen I would watch.
I was obsessed with the way he rapped. I was obsessed when he sang. I was obsessed when he smiled.
I also was starting to see that he was was starting to feel more and more like himself after suffering through a really difficult loss. He was returning back to shine more and more on stage during the God of Music era and the 17 is Right Here/ Maestro/ Lalali era. Let's just say this time period was end of 2023 and was after Nana tour and someone was feeling their epicness and sharing it a little bit more with others LOL!
If anyone has seen that James Corden performance they know I was wrong that I thought the maroon-haired person was Vernon.
And lo and behold when I was rewatching that performance during their Lolla summer, as a full blown baby CARAT, while telling people on the internetz that Jeon Wonwoo was is and always be my ult of ult biases, that it was actually Wonwoo in the maroon hair that caught my immediate attention after all.
So yes I started with Wonwoo as my ult and yes he is still my ult.
(even though every member keeps trying to do his DAMMDEST to try to unseat him !!! - wrecking SEVENTEEN !!! - sigh I face this everyday when I open this app lol - this is why I still also be like OT13 but Wonwoo is the ult).
And yes Vernon is still one of my biases and the rest of the HHU is the ✨️ bestest bias line ✨️ this girl could ask for. 🩷🩵
