Not an April Fool's joke! I finally finished my embroidery sampler!

Last year I was really inspired by some mutuals gorgeous embroidery art to finally dive in and really try it for myself! After some experimenting on my Halloween costume I asked for some hoops for christmas and, following their example, I looked up a stitch sampler to try out!

It was a WONDERFUL idea and I'm so happy I did it!

It took me awhile. I'm a slow person and I get distracted a lot and have my bad days. I still need to try a turkey stitch (it was actually on the pattern for the bee but i misread what stitch was where) and I def need more practice on satin and long-short stitching.

But I finished it and I thinknit's not to shabby for a first genuine attempt! I'm proud of myself!

Notes about the whole process and my thoughts below the cut!

Things I've Learned

i need to outline the pattern first!!!!!!!

i need to set out what colors i want to use first!!!!!! (i need to want to get more colors anywyas)

a cool waste stitch thats waaaaayyy easier than what i was originally doing

I genuinely like doing every type of stitch so far they're all very??? idk kinesthetically rewarding to perform!

background noise like podcasts/audiobooks/youtube videos really helps for this particular type of art vs some others

Questions I Still Have

how to measure out a proper length of thread so i dont waste as much?

how best to store excess thread thats too long to throw away?

can you stitch over a satin and long-short stitchs for more added color/patterns/detail?

how does one make an embroidered patch that can be sewn onto something else?

HOW do you sew such a patch on to something else?

is there a better type of fabric to do embroidery on?

just WHAT do i do with this pattern now 🤔
