Homecoming

“Uggggh.”

Aleyanna muttered that as the collective weight of fatigue finally caught up to her as she made her way through the Upper City of the Refuge. She was so close to home, and yet she was so far. It may as well have felt like she would have to cross all of Tyria to get home. She slowly moved her legs through the final few steps to get through the plaza and finally into her house.

Immediately, she was met with quiet. She figured as such, given that she had arrived very late in the evening. And by now, everyone was up and fast asleep in their rooms, and all of their pets were resting in their respective pens and dens.

She smiled at the relative peace and was almost ready to prepare for her own restful slumber, when she noticed something on the common area table. A pamphlet advertising the return of the Festival of the Four Winds, along with what appeared to be written requests from those within the family asking to go. Neatly enscribed, even with one obviously being helped by her mother. And Aleyanna smiled as she simply wrote a quick ‘yes’ underneath it all.

Continuing to smile, she finally decided she was going to just call it an evening down on the couch. Besides, it would be a welcome surprise for everyone.
