Pantone’s Color of the Year and how you can put in the your Home

Pantone’s Color of the Year announcement is one of the great pleasures of being a person that’s interested in beauty and interior design. The company, currently owned by X-Rite, has been releasing a distinctive shade to welcome every year since the beginning of the millennium. 2000’s chosen COTW was Cerulean, and 2019’s new addition to this aesthetic hall of fame is Living Coral, which will probably become a trend in this year’s furniture production.

A little background behind the COTW

Pantone’s selection of lauded colors for every year began with an idea from the Executive Director of the company’s Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, who is a psychologist and design enthusiast with plenty of experience working the fields of fashion and interior design. Eiseman has stated that she looks for tones that her philosophy for choosing a COTW has to do with trends around the world and society itself. The more prominent a certain color family becomes, the more opportunity for shade from their roster to be featured as Color of the Year.

Eiseman’s statement for this choice reads: ‘color is an equalizing lens thourgh which we experience our natural and digital realities and this is particularly true for the Living Coral.’ It has a humanizing quality, she says, that directly correlates with the things our current period is struggling to achieve.

Well, Pantone’s announcement just came to be so there will be a while before this shade finds its way to the furniture stores. Besides, Pantone copyrights these colors, so you will most likely find some similar shades as coral starts to become more popular throughout the year. At Manhattan Home Design, we are seeing this color as directly related to another emerging design trend for 2019: pastel colors. These are de-saturated shades, meaning that they are opaque and quiet, and they’re usually associated with feelings of coziness and soothing experiences.
