Foreshadowing of Quasimodo's Arc in The Hunchback of Notre Dame
The introduction of Quasimodo is brilliant for a number of reasons. It establishes the protagonist's kind and gentle nature, which juxtaposes Frollo's cruelty and callousness. But the scene with Quasimodo encouraging the baby bird to fly not only makes the audience root for the character and presents his desire to go out into the world, but it's great foreshadowing for how he would treat Esmeralda.
When Quasimodo notices the bird's eagerness to join the flock, he gently encourages the bird to leave, saying, "Go on, nobody wants to be cooped up in here forever," before allowing the bird to leave the nest so to speak, and take flight.
Quasi emphasizes with and respects the bird's desire to leave and he decides to let it go out into the world. This moment also is a great contrast with Frollo's introduction, as the first thing we see him do is arrest a group of Romani travelers and pursue after a mother and her child under the assumption that she's harboring stolen goods. Frollo exerts control over others, while Quasimodo respects the wishes of others.
"and maybe frollo's wrong about the both of us."
