OKAY ITS MY TIME TO YAP HI!!!! so uh these characters are from honk the musical which is based on the story of the ugly duckling. i helped backstage on it a few years back and it genuinely changed my life istg. me and my friends made headcanons and extra lore so i will talk about that as needed! also note that the designs for everyone except lowbutt and queenie are based on the actors of the production i helped with ☝️
the first drawing is of the cat, which is the main antagonist of the story i guess. they like wanted to eat ugly and the ducklings because. uh. yum? we headcanoned them to use any pronouns and as lesbian :3
the second drawing is of ida!! she is ugly’s mother and is the only one who didn’t make fun of him and went to look for him when he ran away. she is pretty awesome :3 uhhh she/her and bi! she divorced drake’s (the dad) ass because he highkey sucks and she deserves better (cough cough MAUREEN cough cough)
queenie is the third drawing!!! she actually wasn’t in the production i saw if i’m remembering properly, so i will be describing based on the wikipedia article. after ugly runs away from the farm, he ends up at a house and meets queenie (domesticated cat) and lowbutt (domesticated chicken). they see ida and jay bird broadcasting a missing notice for ugly on tv and queenie goes to call the advertised number. the doorbell rings, and the cat enters poorly disguised as drake. when queenie comes back in, the cat falls in love and queenie also does when they remove their disguise (GAY!!). lowbutt is not happy so she helps ugly escape, leaving the cat to decide between their meal and queenie. they choose to go after ugly, leaving lowbutt to comfort queenie. queenie is omni and she/her ^^
next is maureen and greylag! they are not canonically siblings since grey is a goose and maur is a moorhen, but i like to think grey’s dad found maur somewhere alone and adopted her :) yeah they are the sillies!!! we ignore the fact that they both witnessed their dad get fucking shot by hunters in front of them and that grey blames himself because it was kind of partially his fault…. erm anyway
last one is bullfrog and lowbutt! the lyric bullfrog (left) is singing is from the song “warts and all” which is him trying to cheer up ugly. lowbutt is a repulsed aroace so i thought it would be funny if she somehow heard that line (even though she wasn’t there?) and was terrified by the thought lmao. bullfrog uses he/she pronouns and is bi 🔥🔥
