Tried a new thing with the eyeliner today.
Is it a yes? I think it’s a yes.
Makeup of the day:
Eyeshadow- Second row, far right shadow from the Dazzling Diamonds palette from Ofra cosmetics.
Eyeliner- Brown Liner from the Shimmer Strip Trio set for Brown Eyes by Physician's Formula.
Mascara- Better Than Sex by Too Faced on top of Photo Finish Lash Primer by Smashbox.
Highlighter- Electra from the Black Light Highlighter palette by BH Cosmetics.
Lip Color- Vintage Vice Lipstick in Smog (no longer sold), by Urban Decay.
Just a reminder I don't listen to the Shimmer Strips from Physician's Formula. If I see a trio of colors I like, I'll buy it. 3 nearly smudge-proof eyeliners (water resistant and take a bit of remover to completely get off) for $12 is a great deal, and I have 3 or four sets (one glitter set for green eyes, one matte set, and one metallic set). Also I probably should have gone with my Conspiracy lipstick since that's a proper brown lipstick that would have matched the shadow better.
I finally tried using this Liner Designer pro tool from Sephora, but you can't tell since I didn't make the liner long enough. The elevated wing doesn't quite look right with my hooded lids. But at least they were even! The tool let me do it at the same angle. Now I know not be afraid of making the liner wings longer. You practice and learn. Plus I appreciate that it came with a look book, with all the various ways you can use the tool on your eyes. Also my mom pointed out I have old guitar picks laying around, and I could have used one of those instead of spending money on that beauty tool. Something to think about if you have a guitar pick laying around! Although I prefer using the silicone tool by my eye vs a plastic pick. It all just depends on what you're most comfortable with!
Personally I see absolutely nothing wrong with her eyes or the line she demonstrates as “wrong” on the right side initially (the one she eventually “corrects” at the end), but I know there are probably LOTS of dancers out there with hooded or “droopier” lids, or even those w/downturned outer eye corners, which may cause some problems for winging eyeliner), so I figgered this might be worth a share. :) (Since cat eyes are pretty popular in all genres of bellydance. :):)) But, I do (again, from my personal POV) get the bit about the creasing. Depending on eye structure and age, that can be a problem for dancers even w/o hooded lids. (And ever have places on your lids that just WON’T accept pigment? I friggin’ HATE that. There’s this one spot on my right eye near the center of my lash line that just SCOFFS at colour, and I”m like “okay Barney, wtf is this??” ..Just don’t ask me why I call that weirdo spot Barney... *lol*) And her way of dealing w/both problems is fracking brilliant. ^_^ (Even if you want thinner lines- I have a feeling this method might still work for you. :))
On a related note; it also baffles & puts me in awe when I see people use the same hand to do both eyes (eg. when she crosses over w/her right hand to do her opposite eye). o.O I’m a lefty, and maybe it’s a product of my eyes not working together (w/my left eye being better- conveniently), or maybe it’s just because my chest is too big n’ I’m too fluffy to make it comfortable (it always kinda hurts my wrist and my hand positions just seem SO strange), but I absolutely cannot do that whole same-hand-crossover thing. (I do okay w/my non-dominant hand, as I’m around 60/40 ambidextrous, but still- wielding a makeup tool always feels SO awkward n’ weird in my “wrong” hand!!”) So, if anyone out there has any tips or pointers as to how to get the hang of that whole swappydoodle maneuver, inbox me! And if I can make it work, I’ll totally share your advice here, to help other people who haven’t gotten the hang of it like me. ^_^
Hope this proves useful, beauties, and have a wonderful Easter! ^_^ ♥♥

having hooded lids is cool because you can wear super bright/cool eye shadows but you can't see them unless you blink, so every time you blink it's like this cool bright surprise.
question to hooded/monolid ppl who may use cream/gel eyeliner how do you get it from transferring to other parts of your eyelid?????
