Again, I would like to apologize for a lack of concrete updates in the past week or so. I have a few announcements and requests for all of you bebs.
- If you are interested in becoming an admin for this page, I have a few spots open. We are looking for somebody with admining experience, but feel free to message us even if you don't. Be patient with our reply, because the current admins will need to discuss about you before deciding. :) Things to include in your message are (not limited or required, simply suggestions): favorite femslash ships, why you are interested in becoming an admin, how you heard about the HoOFembang, etc etc
-Is there anything you think we should be doing? Anything that would increase interest, or hold our followers? Keep in mind, this is the first annual FemBang, and we are new to this! What would you like to see from us? Don't expect a reply, but do know that we read all the messages we receive.
-Even thought Theme Week is over, create drabble, fic, art, fanmixes etc and tag us with hoofembang. We do our best to reblog everything in the tag.
“Why are we doing this?” Thalia whined, throwing her head down on the desk.
Reyna ignored the dramatics; she was pretty used to it by now. “So we can be ready for the Arithmancy exam tomorrow,” she answered evenly, not looking up from the book in front of her.
“No,” Thalia sighed, sitting up and placing her head in her hands. “Why are we taking eight NEWTs?”
“Because no one ever has. We’re making history.”
“I’m beginning to think there’s a reason for that.”
In which the ladies of the Heroes Legion try to be covert, .lay low, and live a month as just normal teenagers. No big deal, right?
It was Hazel who broke the silence first, coughing slightly and pushing her hair behind her ear as she looked around at the other girls. "So..." she hazarded, looking pleadingly across the table at Piper, who was busying herself NOT looking at Reyna.
"So..." Annabeth repeated, fiddling with the lid of her water bottle, "Here we are."
"Yep." Hazel coughed again.
"Yep." Piper repeated, standing up this time to pace around the living room.
"This is ridiculous." They all jumped as Reyna's fist hit the kitchen counter. "Absolutely ridiculous. This shouldn't be-"
"So hard?" Annabeth quirked an eyebrow. Reyna scowled.
"I was going to say 'shouldn't be happening'. This is ridiculous."
"Yeah, you said." Piper sighed, "Listen, guys, we can't just do this," she waved her hand in a gesture that encompassed the entire kitchen/living room set up, "all day for the next month. We have to do something..."
"What do normal teenage girls do?" Hazel looked nervous, but pressed on, "You know. On vacation? Or when they get a hotel, or-"
"Drink? Party? Sex?" Piper pursed her lips, "At least in my experience."
"Uhm, really?" Annabeth gave Piper a look, "Because in my experience we usually just watch bad movies and, like, order a pizza."
"I guess we hung out with different people." Piper shrugged, "But your idea sounds way better, if I do say so myself."
"Pizza sounds good. I like pizza." Hazel sighed in relief. At last, they were getting somewhere.
"Alright!" Reyna pulled out her phone and tapped at it hurriedly, "Operation Pizza is a-go."
"Reyna, it isn't a mission, it's a phone call to Pizza Hut." Annabeth frowned at took Reyna's hand that held her phone, stopping her from doing anything else with it, "Guys, seriously. We all have normal lives outside of the Legion, right? I mean, okay, maybe not ALL of us..." She looked apologetically at Hazel, who shrugged, "But I mean, it's only a month. A month of being JUST normal teenagers. Hanging out, going to school, making questionable decisions about sleep. No missions, no tasks, no villains, no codenames. Just us. Living together. For a month. As normal, non super-powered people."
"Annabeth is right," Piper took her seat again at the kitchen table, "Really, why are we freaking out? It will be good for us to take a few weeks and just be, you know, kids. That includes you, Reyna. So unless you're updating facebook or texting the person you have a crush on, no fancy spy tech. Got it?"
"You can't tell me what to do, you're not in charge here-"
"NO ONE is in charge here, Reyna, that's the point. Remember?" Annabeth's hand moved from Reyna's hand to her arm, stroking it comfortingly, "Alright?"
"Right. Alright." Reyna shut her eyes and tried to force herself to relax. She couldn't remember the last time she hadn't had the burden of leadership and responsibility. She didn't remember how to be domestic. "So, pizza?"
"Yeah!" Hazel said, standing up and joining the other two girls, "Pizza. So, extra cheese?"
"You're going where?" Nico blinked up at his sister from the couch in their shared apartment, "With who? And doing what?"
"Nico," Hazel picked at her hair while looking in the mirror by the door, "It's no big deal. It's just a 'girls night', it's going to be perfectly-"
"Awful? Dangerous? World shattering?"
"You're doing that thing again." She turned to frown at him, hand on hip and looking all the world like...well...like a normal teenage girl.
"What thing?" Nico sat up to frown at her, looking all the world like a put-upon brother.
"That thing you do where you overreact and get dramatic over nothing and worry about me too much."
"I don't-"
"You do. And I appreciate it, Nico, I do, really. But believe me I can take care of myself."
"I know you can take care of yourself," Nico frowned again, messing with the skull ring on his finger, "It's the others that I don't trust."
"Nico," Hazel sat down next to her brother and put a hand on his shoulder, squeezing reassuringly. Nico could be ridiculous sometimes, but it was sweet. "I'll be fine. Relax, take the night off, order a pizza or-" She grinned playfully, "Invite over Jason."
"What? Shut up! What? You're-"
Hazel laughed at Nico's flustered stuttering, giving him a kiss on the cheek and turning back to the mirror, "I'll be fine. You have my communication line. You'll be fine."
"Fine." Nico managed to crack a smile, "You better get going, you'll be late. Are you sure you don't want me to give you a lift?"
"No, I'm good. Nightengale is picking me up! I'll see you, Nico!"
"Be careful!" Nico called after her as she pulled on a jacket and started out the door.
"I will be," She toed on her shoes and rushed out the door, before calling back, "I'm serious about Jason!"
She heard a thud as Nico threw a pillow at the door.
Piper had a nice car. A really nice car. An INCREDIBLY NICE car. Actually, she had several incredibly nice cars; but this one was a deep ruby red with tinted windows, and sunroof, and automated doors that slid open with a sci-fi 'whoosh' when Hazel stepped up to it.
Hazel was impressed, which was good, because that's kind of what Piper was going for. She grinned at Hazel from the driver's seat. "I'm here to pick up a gem? I got a delivery to somewhere fun."
"That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard," but Hazel was still giggling as she slid into the car, "Nice ride."
"Thanks, it's not mine."
"Nightengale!"
"Kidding! This one is legal." Piper looked at Hazel who was still frowning. Alright, no-go on the ex-con jokes. Noted. "Sorry."
"It's fine."
"You can call me Piper, by the way. No need for Legion formalities while in our civvies, right?"
"Piper...that's a pretty name. You're name is Piper?"
"Yeah, of course." Piper blinked, "Oh. Right. Right, we haven't-"
"No, we haven't."
"Oh."
The sat in silence until Hazel coughed shyly, "I'm...I'm Hazel."
"Hazel," Piper smiled as the other girl's name fell off her lips. "Hi Hazel."
She giggled again, "Hi, Piper. It's kind of weird, though, isn't it?"
"What? Using real names? I don't think so."
"No, well yes. No, I mean...being normal."
"You think it's weird?"
"I don't know," Hazel shrugged, "I've just...never done anything like this before."
"Seriously? Piper looked incredulous as she blew through a red light.
"Seriously. I've always been...something super?"
"You are super. A super cutie. Seriously."
"Stop, oh my god. You're so cheesy."
"Aw, you think I'm cheesy? I'm trying to be suave. I can turn up the charm."
"I'm fine, thanks, I know all about you're charm." Hazel laughed as Piper gave her an exaggerated wink. "Anyway, I don't want to make the others feel left out."
"Others?" Piper blinked again, confused.
"Reyna, and Silver Owl. Girl's night?"
"Oh...right. Girl's night. They, uhm, had to cancel."
"Cancel? Why?"
"Something about Circe? I don't know, there were explosions or-"
"WHAT?" Hazel went to unbuckle her seatbelt, "Where? We have to help, why didn't they call, where-"
"No, it's fine. They've got it, they're good. Uhm. So it's just us."
"But-"
"OK. Hazel. I'm...going to be honest." Piper pulled her car into a parking lot, turning to face Hazel completely. "I adore Reyna and Silver, really. They're like, some of my best friends. But I really just wanted to hang out with you. Girl's night was...was kind of an excuse."
"What?" It was Hazel's turn to blink in confusion. She tilted her head and squinted, and Piper tried to ignore the way her golden hair looked in the lights of her dashboard.
"I mean, it's just...well we've worked together a couple of times. But we've never really...you know...hung out. Just the two of us, and I thought..."
"And you thought...?"
"I don't know." Piper let her head fall against the steering wheel, "I don't...this was never hard before I don't know- I didn't have this trouble with Jason. This-"
"Nighten- er. Piper. What...what's going on? What are we doing?"
"I wanted to hang out with you."
"OK."
"Just us."
"Alright."
"Because..."
"Because...you want to be friends? Because if you thought I didn't like you or-"
"Because I want to get to know you. As...as maybe more than friends? Uhm. I'm sorry, this sounds so dumb. Usually I'm good with words..."
"Oh. Uhm. Piper..."
"It was dumb. I know, I'm sorry, I can take you home if you-"
Piper stopped as she noticed Hazel's hand on hers, the other girl leaning over her seat to meet Piper.
"I didn't say I wanted to go home. I've never had a girl's night."
"O...oh?"
"You said you'd show me how to have fun like a normal kid. And I'm not saying no, so let's-"
Piper didn't know when they had turned from staring at each other to kissing, but it had happened. Hazel's lips pressed against her own, hands twining in each other, and becoming increasingly aware of how small and intimate the car suddenly seemed. Piper's eyes had fluttered closed, and her other hand had found the back of Hazel's neck. Hazel pressed closer, shivering as skin brushed skin, Piper's hair tickling her cheek.
And all too soon it was over. Piper opened her eyes, Hazel was staring at her, eyes half shut.
"I've...never done that before."
"You've never kissed a girl?"
"I've never kissed anyone. Not...not like that."
"Oh."
"It was...I liked it."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
They stared at each other. Piper tried to remember where she was. Oh, right. "So..."
"So?"
