I lovvvvvved Hook-Echo! Do you think you’d ever write a future verse for that fic? Maybe a CS wedding day with Emma giving Liam a ton of shit for all the grief he’s given her over the years. I’m just not ready to see the universe end! Also, curious, what job do you see Killian taking now that he has a PhD? I feel like PhDs wind up teaching and writing books but maybe the world of atmosphere science is different? Killian as an anchor would make for some mighty fine tv on the Weather Channel, lol

This is one of those rare instances where I actually understand when published authors are like “nope, that’s all the story, it ended because that’s all the story I had, if you have fanfic ideas of what happens next, be free children”. Normally I do have ideas on like what happens next! But in this case–well, I was torn on the ending, whether or not Killian would propose. I did think it might happen, but narratively it didn’t work out.

But I do think he’s got a ring stashed somewhere in that house and the second Emma was in the shower he went to the hiding place to make sure it was undamaged after the storm lol.

But as for them actually getting married and what kind of job Killian takes on… I don’t have any ideas on that. I don’t think Killian’s quite ready to be tied to a desk yet, but man he’d look pretty on The Weather Channel. I can see him continuing as a postdoc researcher (they get paid!) for a while, I’m sure he’d like to follow through on his dissertation results and see what else he can get. His research also lends itself to meteorological technology development, and also there’s, y’know, books and conferences and stuff. Government work, think tanks… hell, there’s meteorological forensics! (how did that hurricane affect this row of houses? did that plane crash due to lightning in the area?)

So his options are wide open, but I think if he wants to help people and he already builds things like his armored science tank, he’s likely going to be doing more research and technology development. :)
