perhaps there's a way to cut through the turmoil, if he learns how to navigate through it. not without its own little play of long-limbed awkwardness, habits formed within the constrictive walls of the palace, kept until now because he's never known how to shake them off, zuko leans his back heavily against the wall. silence only perturbed because the calmness of it makes the hairs at the nape of his neck rise. ❝ i never wanted things to go the way they did, you know. ❞

JET SAID : Big fan of your work 😌
" what ? oh . " expression of confusion quickly morphs into an unimpressed stare at @hookedswords , at the boy who looks far too pleased with himself right now . if the boiling rock doesn’t kill her , jet’s horrible puns just might . “ y’know jet , i love the sound of your voice … right now . shhhh , don’t speak . ”
Jet...
Sokka sighed as he came up behind Jet, his expression serious. "I need to talk to you, Jet. It's important." After a few moments, the water triber continued. "I've noticed you've been getting more reckless lately. Taking bigger risks, getting into more dangerous situations."
"I know you can handle yourself," Sokka said, his voice softening. "But that doesn't mean you're invincible. You got people that care about you."

@hookedswords asked: "I-I'm fine, just give me a moment. It's nothing..." From: Panic Attack/ Comfort Starters
He paused, glancing over at the other before nodding and turning his attention back to the fortress they'd just escaped from. The others in their group had managed to make it to Appa, but they'd been separated while defending their retreat. Leaving them stranded until they could meet up with the group back at the campsite they'd found a day ago. Which would probably take them all night and a bit of the day on foot.
Ensuring no one was following them he then shifted, pivoting in his crouch to look at Jet, concern flaring in his eyes. They all had a past. Each of them haunted by nightmares of their own. It wasn't the first time he'd seen a panic attack.
Waiting a few minutes, checking every once in a while to ensure they were still in the clear he finally said. "You good? We need to move."
psst mako.... acab
@hookedswords
"I mean..." They weren't exactly wrong. The only times Mako seemed to be able to make a difference and actually help people was when he went above his charge, or behind Chief Beifong's back. But he didn't know where else to go. Being on Team Avatar didn't exactly pay, and he needed to keep a roof over his head. So he'd keep going against the arbitrary rules that held him back until he was able to change them himself.
@hookedswords ... liked this.
"carrie isn't fictional, by the way. autistic people can just do that."

"there. that's the man my warrior overheard discussing the attack." suki points with a single gloved hand, eyes narrowing. she glanced over the low-lying wall, watching their target weave his way through a throng of civilians. she had enlisted jet's help tracking and interrogating a potential assassin - or at least, an accomplice to a potential assassin.
there were a number of earth kingdom activists in the city, hoping to meet with the new fire-lord zuko. but there were plots to stop them, as there often were, made by those still loyal to the old fire nation regime. zuko did his best to track the supporters down and squash those ideologies, but where they slipped through the cracks, suki and her warriors were there to hunt them.
"what do you suggest? do we confront him now, or wait until he's alone?"
