4 years ago today, I bought my first hoop! This started an amazing journey to learning about myself, healing my depression and anxiety, challenging myself to master moves and tricks I've deemed too "hard" to even try. And overcoming my biggest fear of being on stage in front of thousands, it's absolutely nothing to me anymore...playing with fire...I live for it now! I'm a completely different person, in the best possible way! Hooping has saved me. Today is my one year hoopaversary! Above are some photos (in order) from my journey.

It seems like just yesterday I picked up a incredibly heavy 42" hoop on the first day of Valentina Unity's UCSD hoop class and learned how to spin it around my waist. Never could I have imagined how far I would come in just a year! I still have a lot to learn and many more goals left to achieve, but the journey so far has been wonderful. I am so happy to have finally found an activity that has changed my life after years of never really having a true passion. I know I will stick with hooping until I cannot hoop any longer. I am eternally grateful to my hoop mamas Leela, Kristil, and my teacher Valentina for introducing me to the wonders of hooping. Also a huge thank you to all who have supported me--it truly means the world to me to have people recognize my passion.

So, here's to a year of hoop dancing and many more to come! <3
