Alternative Study Spots - Nikki Aflatooni
So, if you know anything about USC, you probably know about our two biggest libraries on campus: Leavey Library, which is our 24-hour library, and Doheny library, which is known for those **Harry Potter** vibes. I have spent my fair share of late nights studying for midterms in these libraries, but whether it’s because midterm season has packed them, or I just want a change of scenery, I also have a few alternative favorite study spots on campus to share!
Dean’s List Café: This is an on campus café near the Church/Religious Center. I’ve always loved studying at coffee shops, and sometimes I’m too lazy to Uber to a spot off-campus. Dean’s List is perfect because it has those cozy café vibes with soft music that put me in the perfect working mood. And even better, I can order coffee or a sandwich to munch on and stay focused!
Hoose Library of Philosophy: It’s located on the far side of campus in the Mudd Hall of Philosophy. With lots of natural lighting, grand furniture, tall arches, and tons of books, the Hoose Library of Philosophy is my go-to when I need to be in a creative mood or bust out a paper.
Tutor Campus Center: You can often find me at campus center sipping on a watermelon rosemary lemonade and eating truffle mac-and-cheese from Lemonade, but who says I can’t be productive at the same time?! The campus center is filled with tons of nooks and rooms that are perfect for productivity between classes. Particularly, I love heading over to the 3rd floor to the Trojan Generations Lounge. I can almost always find a spot here, and there are big tables that are perfect for study groups!
Sculpture Garden: During those beautiful Southern California days I find it so relaxing to head over to the sculpture gardens behind the art school. I usually sit on the grass and do a bit of e-mailing/busywork here or chat with some friends.
