I listened to Moonkitti’s deadfoot video while drawing him and the whole thing about it not being possible for him to be Crowfeather’s dad is crazy. I’m thinking as a headcannon maybe Crowfeather never got to know his dad because he was actually a rogue that Ashfoot never told him about, while Crowfeather was growing up Ashfoot had to lie to him and the clan that it was Deadfoot or something idk

(Okay wait actually scratch the rogue thing it’s too complicated lol, but u can believe this if wanted)

tallstar's revenge was a really interesting book! i think it explored grief and anger quite well, and i like how it resolved that grief and anger. i think the details about talltail feeling trapped by the borders was also something interesting that hasn't really been explored, and of course we get the iconic jake and tallstar pairing. however, there's three big things i want to change, and a couple of other little things too.

for one, i would like jake to have more character other than "polite" and "likes tallstar". i think there was definitely something in there but the authors really just didn't show it. my jake is kind and friendly on purpose, and genuinely believes that you will get further with gentleness and a good attitude. he loves his home and housefolk dearly and would never really leave them behind, but he is fundamentally curious and wants to experience the world around him and explore new places and meet new people. he likes tallstar because he can see that restlessness and, in the end, kindness below the angry exterior he's put up to protect him from that grief.

also, tallstar and jake are actually gay now. they get together right before they end up finding the visitor's group.

the last big thing is deadfoot's name. he is staying hopkit, renaming him to deadpaw was just cruel. i want him to end up named hopheart but that might be too close to hawkheart so we'll see.

a couple little things i'm going to change-the visitors don't stop coming at the end of the book. i feel like the message of the story would go better with tallstar welcoming them back and having windclan be more open about them and teaching their kits to respect them, not just having any possible conflict disappear. also, i think that the situation with the tunnelers wasn't really resolved. i seemed like "everyone just got over it, i guess" and for a piece of lore so interesting i just don't think i want it to be gone after one book. not sure exactly how that'll play out in my au, but the tunnelers won't be gone.

How did such a cool and relatively chill dude end up fathering Crowfeather of all cats? Wish we knew what happened to him exactly too. He was way too cute in Tallstar's Revenge.

I like this scene <3 Out of everyone in WindClan, I would NOT expect Hawkheart to be the one of the most supportive of Hopkit (even more than his own parents!!) and his grouchiness is amusing. 0 tolerance for Hopkit not becoming a warrior
