the story jim & joyce

Joyce Byers; Restless Nights -

Each night she would lie wide awake, tossing and turning in her bed, the sheets falling unto the floor due to her endless fits of restlessness, her head spinning, her thoughts racing (faster, faster, faster), her mind reeling, her heart aching, her body and soul longing... longing... what for? His name was Jim, Jim Hopper. It seemed to her now that she had always known deep down that she loved him; she had always loved him, hadn’t she? It sure felt like it now. It felt to her as if for every day, every night they were apart  the pain got more and more unbearable (and it had been many days and many nights now, far to many for her to count, which was why she felt like she was going crazy now) her heart expanded, threatening to burst right out of her chest - that was how strong and passionate her love for him had grown. She would dream about falling asleep in his warm, firm embrace, his strong, gentle arms providing her with the security and the love she needed. She dreamt about running her fingers through his hair, whispering his name in the darkness. She could almost feel his lips brushing her skin, and some nights, it got so bad that she even began to question whether dreams really were all they were. It felt so real, and yet, there was something missing. She finally closed her eyes, welcoming sleep, as one word, one single, painful word, softly, tenderly, escaped her lips: “Hopper...”
