Every Horde recruit knows the story of how Hordak landed in Bright Moon and Queen Angella gave him her Moonstone in exchange for his help unifying the people of Etheria. Problem is, the Etherians don't seem to want unifying, viewing the Horde as less of a benevolent savior and more of an occupying force. No one's sure what the truth is, especially when the Queen disappeared shortly after King Micah. Their disappearance left Bright Moon's princess alone and unchecked save for her best and only friend: a tech savvy orphan named Bow who serves as Hordak's apprentice. 

The Horde has superior technology, but the other princesses wield powerful magic, allied with an army of sorcerers super-charged by the Spell of Obtainment. But a new princess emerges to break the stalemate: a golden warrior out of legend known as She-Ra. With war tearing the planet apart, Glimmer and Bow plot to overthrow Hordak, reclaiming Glimmer's throne, so they can finally set things right. 

But power, both political and mystical, has transformed Glimmer until Bow's not sure he recognizes his best friend anymore. Under Castaspella's ruthless tutelage, the young queen has mastered forbidden dark magics which are The Horde's only hope of countering She-Ra and the dangerous Light Spinner, the enemy's most powerful sorceress. Glimmer's determined to do whatever it takes, but her perspective is warped by manipulation and lies, her path darkening. As everything they've ever been told about their parents, the princesses and Etheria itself starts to unravel, Bow finds himself confronting a cold truth.

They might not be the good guys at all.

Bow and Glimmer are childhood friends who grow up in the Horde. But everything changes when Bow makes the decision to leave and find somewhere where he fits in. He didn't want leave her but he wasn't happy. This causes Glimmer into downward spiral, where she feels like she has to prove to Bow that she can be happy without him. At the end of the day they are in love and try to fight every fiber in their bodies from admitting it to each other. With each of them on opposite sides of the war can they really be happy?

Okay but a SPOP AU

The Horde was right. The princesses are cruel monsters and tyrants. The Horde is trying to fight them to bring peace to Etheria. Basically just a big role swap where the Horde is good and the princesses are evil. Glimmer and Bow try to sneak into the Fright Zone only to be captured by Adora and Catra who then proceed to show them around and basically show them that the princesses are evil and stuff like Glimmer and Bow showed Adore in canon. Shadow Weaver is actually a decent fucking person and decided that these two children are innocent and they should be spared so they are trained among Scorpia, Adora, Catra, Kyle, Rogelio, and Lonnie.

Edit- What if The Fright Zone was Thaymore? Like the fright zone was just a civilian town which the princesses attacked while Bow and Glimmer were there? And they saw just how bad the princesses actually were.

SPOP Saturday

I was looking for Horde Bow AUs for inspiration for the one I'm mulling over and found two interesting unfinished ones I wanted to share

Bow Versus The Horde, where Bow infiltrates the Horde to save Adora and Angella and starts to question is loyalties

we all hurt, we all lie (and nothing stays the same) which is a more standard role swap where Catradora grow up in Bright Moon and Glimbow grew up in the Horde

And, of course, the greatest Glimbow Horde AU of all time Come with me (which I think about constantly still @caramelaire, my beloved, just so you know!)

Has anyone written a She-Ra flipped AU where Bright Moon is the bad side and Glimmer defects as She-Ra?

Picture Catra and Adora being the bffs who take her in, and they have the sheer chemistry that canon Bow and Glimmer have. Bow would be a good revenge strategist like Catra was. *I am indeed asking someone to write this*

So I know you sent this around to a couple of fic writers and idk if that was a mistake or not but I’m going to take it in good faith that you just goofed and weren’t trying to spam.

I have seen fanart of Glimmer as She-Ra and it’s a cool visual concept but... and I say this as someone with like a zillion Glimbow AUs in my head, I am really not that interested in Glimmer as She-Ra mostly because she would probably end the world and it would be a very short story.

I mean, I love the girl, but still.

I want to second what @imaginationfanstar said on another instance of this ask and recommend @caramelaire‘s fic Come With Me for my absolutely favorite take on Horde Bow and Glimmer in a very similar dynamic to what you describe... just with Adora still being She-Ra.

I have a Horde Glimmer AU (that is only a one-shot right now but I will almost certainly be continuing once I finish some of my other fics bc I wrote a bunch more) and you will meet my take on Horde Bow in my Beasts AU but I don’t have any plans for either Bow or Glimmer to turn into She-Ra either time soon.
