i truly have a love/hate relationship when it comes to modern art. sometimes I feel as if a child could pull some of this stuff off, yet i read an article earlier on how it’s supposed to be obscure in order to kick your consciousness out and reel your subconscious in to be able to truly interpret a piece (a theory which I love). in an interview, security guards of museums were asked what pieces people cried at the most and they pointed at Rothko’s pieces even though they were just blocks of color. one even claimed a woman fainted while looking at one. all i can say is, if children can rly pull this stuff off, then they are the true geniuses of the art world.
