Seen something recently and I wanna make a very brief post about something in it as it's the only thing I CAN speak on—This is Skitzo

Skitzo's name is unfortunatly VERY CLOSE to a slur for schizophrenic people, said slur in question is the abbreviation for the word schizophrenia itself which has a totally different but people often pronounce the slur like Skitzo's name. I honestly don't believe Skitzo's name itself is a slur as I would like to add that Skitzo himself doesn't have schizophrenia or have any sort of mental illness similar, he himself is just a demon who forgets he's a demon which is why he's sometimes aloof in his series. The naming convention is rather unfortunate but I don't think it was came up with with any malicious intent in mine, especially when Skitzo himself isn't schizophrenic.

Can't believe I didn't post this: here's the rules sheet for Blood & Ink's version of the Cartoon Dog!

He's fucking massive I know, but that's sorta the entire point and among the Horror Toons CD is an outlier in the fact that he's bigger than the rest being the enforcer and brute of the group. Mainly for CD's design I wanted to do something unique as I rarely see any sort of variety among the Trevor Henderson fandom's version of him.

Day 4 of toons I think are queer, today featuring not a proper toon, but a horror toon: The Cartoon Cat!

The Cartoon Cat—for all the normal toon fans—is an eldtritch abomination that chooses to resemble that of a Cartoon Cat and as an eldtritch abomination it technically is agender and thus non-binary as it inherently has no gender, however I'll go a step farther. CC's creator, Trevor Henderson, has stated that the body it has is merely one vessel and it has had others in the past and most likely more in the future as it manifests via nostalgia and that's what it sorta feeds on before coming to life to feed on people. I find this really odd when you consider very few have nostalgia for the cartoons of the 1930s since ya know... Everyone who was alive enough to see those cartoons when they premiered in theaters is either dead or is right on death's door. I don't think nostalgia for old cartoon characters is high enough to have a monster manifest from anything and while sure many people like the aesthetic of old cartoons it's stated to specifically prey on nostalgia, thus it's body is outdated yet it still uses it to hunt and kill meaning it clearly LIKES its body.

This is where I'd say I hc the cartoon cat as trans as it itself is a sorta trans allegory, it's a creature that rejects its true form in order to be something else, something of its choosing and something that appeals to it personally. I think the whole "preys on nostalgia thing" is more or less how it first manifested into the real world and from then on there it's become acclimated to its form and refuses to let it go.

CC's voice for B&I as well as his very, very detailed feelings regarding Oswald.

As you can tell this is inspired by AM's hate speech but instead featuring the Cartoon Cat from my Epic Mickey AU. Wanna note that CC is fluffy but I got lazy and didn't wanna draw his fur so don't take this as his official design for the au. Oh and of course drawing and voice acting both by me!—If ya got anything you'd like to hear in my CC voice I'll happily voice it when I got the time as well!

After some thought I realized a few of my posts used a bad mischaracterization regarding a character named "Skitzo" and I decided to delete them purely to avoid anybody seeing them in the future and spreading misinformation based on my own mischaracterization and headcanons. I'm only really doing this because Skitwald is back in my head and those two posts WERE Skitwald posts and I felt like it's important to not make up headcanons that not only give bad info, but also inadvertently turn him into a poor caricture. They both covered initial headcanons which were projections of my own issues onto the character because yeah, I tend to project a bit onto characters... Anyways—The mischaracterization in question is related to Skitzo having an outside influence regarding his murderous instincts rather than them being instincts themselves. I did this because I myself struggle (or at least struggled because I've improved a lot) with violent and intrusive thoughts and so to give a character said traits gave me an outlet when writing to express my frustration and self hatred with myself, however doing so inadvertently makes it seem like Skitzo has mental issues and I think giving him mental issues is a bit problematic when his name has some bad origins.

I guess disclaimer here, the entire aspect related to his name and some brief drama surrounding it came from somebody on here who tried to call out someone else for liking Skitzo. I was roped into everything because I said something about the character and I'm gonna assume someone else was spreading lies but I actually had a really meaningful conversation here with the person who called wrongfully called Skitzo a caricture of schizophrenic people and not only was the entire issue talked about civilly, but they also were really uneducated about the character and I managed to educate them while not ignoring the issue with his name as they are schizophrenic themselves and I'm not gonna dismiss their view but I did make a strong argument that his name can be repurposed when the character literally has nothing in common with schizophrenic people nor ANYBODY with mental illness. He's not a character made to mock or be hurtful, he's legit just supposed to be goofy black comedy with a name that was given by someone lacking awareness in an era where awareness wasn't common. Ultimately I always wanted Skitwald to be a ship focusing on nature vs nurture with Skitzo fighting his instincts on wanting to kill because he wants to be with Oswald whilst Oswald tries his best to fix a literal demonic entity from hell. It's an opposite attract type of thing and in my posts I think I leaned away from that aspect too much and sort of pin Skitzo's issues on mental conflicts which I myself face and projected onto him which does make him problematic in a way and as such I deleted those posts and I'd like to apologize for that idiotic mistake. I'm not a flawless writer and sometimes things go over my head and hindsight is 20/20, I can admit mistakes and faults of mine when they happen and those posts that could stir misinformation definitely are ones.

With that outta the way though I'd also really would like to know if any other people with schizophrenia take issue with the character and his name, whether you have previous knowledge about him or not and merely just read my reblog chain and looked up his (kinda bad) Wikipedia article I'd love to hear thoughts from others. One person doesn't speak for an entire group obviously and as I said, I can acknowledge where the person who brought up the issue of his name came from, I didn't dismiss it and agreed on the basis that it was and is a FACTUALLY a bad name given during a very uneducated time while I myself gave the objective fact that he: isn't a caricture at all, but also as well as gave my own personal opinion on why his name COULD stay the same. If anyone with schizophrenia finds him offensive I'd love to hear your thoughts about him as a whole. If you think it's literally just his name alone being a an issue that can't be fixed and the word absolutely can't be repurposed I'd also love to hear any name possibilities for him as idm if the fandoms gotta change his name as that won't change the main aspect of his nature as a dark parody of toons, I just don't think he's a big issue when taking into account the facts regarding him and I'm open to hearing others points of view in case my own is flawed
