You're in his DMs, I'm on his last nerve...we're not the same bb
My husband is going to be home for a whole MONTH while they get his new location put together and I'm SO EXCITED to moosh him all day but most importantly, the Kermit THEE Frog puppet that usually lives in his office is in our home office now!
I love heem 🥰
My husband has said a great many things to me that I consider unforgettable. He's a sweet boy and stumbles into the tenderly poetic all the time.
BUT SOMETIMES THIS HAPPENS...
Me: (after very mildly teasing him) I'm sorry, I was just being funny
Him: *takes glasses off, tilts head, squints* I'm sure you think that.
Such a binch.
"Have you finished writing that smut yet? I don't have anything to read!" -- my husband, the LIBRARIAN
Me: you're a librarian, right?
Eli: *takes his glasses off, tilts his head, and squints* Yes, but why?
Me: got any smut recs for me?
Eli: You want hardcover, paperback, audiobook, links? You want straight, MLM, WLW, generally queer, mild spice, nuclear hot, Destiel, vampires, werewolves, what? I got you.
I have said this before, and it bears repeating...if you have the opportunity to marry a librarian, DO IT.
When I met Eli (back when he was just "Hot Librarian") I expected to sleep with him. We're both grown, it is what it is, not a damn thing wrong with that.
I did NOT expect to be woken up on a Sunday morning by him singing "Doctor Worm" to our daughter at full volume in the kitchen while he makes waffles.
REALLY did not expect a dance to go with it.
Best possible outcome. Truly the absolute best.
I was sitting and feeding the baby, with my feet in my husbands lap and he had his head tipped back and his eyes closed.
"You know, you can wake me up to take care of her in the morning instead of being tired as fuck all day."
His eyes stay closed, but he reaches for one of my feet to squeeze it lightly.
"Research indicates that it takes 18 months to two years to fully recover from pregnancy and childbirth. You need the extra rest."
"Research indicates?"
He opens one eye and side-eyes me with it. "Yes...what? I've done my due diligence...I needed to know how I could help."
This fucking guy.
"What did they suggest, these researchers?"
He raises my leg up to his lips, and kisses the inside of my ankle. "I had to draw my own conclusions but I think I have it down to a science now."
He sinks his teeth into my calf, just enough to make me jump a little, but not as hard as he usually would were I not holding the baby.
"Talk science to me, nerd boy."
"It's quite simple really...and not much different from how I'd care for you any other time. Lots of attention, affection, occasional vigorous activity..." he winks at me when he says that last part. "The only thing different is the extra mac and cheese."
"What's that for?"
"Healthy bones? I don't know, science is a living thing."
Lyra gets the hiccups then, and I sit up a little more to drape her over my shoulder and pat her back. "Oh no, big hiccups for such a little nugget!" He leans over, politely helping my boob back into my tank top before giving me a kiss. "Thanks for the assist."
He stays just a hair away, our lips almost touching...eyes closed again, until he clears his throat and moves. "Yeah, no problem. I got you. Thanks for the baby."
Wouldn't be a wedding without a crisis:
I was looking around for my husband before being corralled to stand up for my brother at his wedding, and I couldn't find him. He was literally just there and said he just needed to pop in to pee real quick. Dudes pee way faster than this, so where the hell was he?
He was needed also, for a bit he was doing with my brother in which he was "giving him away" to no one in particular, before the bride's father gave her to my brother.
I found him in the hallway, just outside the bathroom, with the bride. She was sobbing, and he was doing his best to be a good brother in law. He sees me and makes this face: 😬
"We can wait for him."
"We only paid for two hours."
He pats her softly on the back, hugging her just close enough that she doesn't ruin her makeup on his shirt. "I have my wallet..."
"No. No, thank you but...you know I'm icky about other people's money."
Truly, she and my brother have been "icky" about every single offer of financial contributions from me and Eli, and pretty much everyone else. They wanted to pay for everything themselves, so they could have the kind of wedding they wanted and no one could say shit about it. Respect.
It hit me then...her dad isn't here. Neither is her stepmom but her dad in particular is very noticeably missing. I make that same face back at him because I don't know what the fuck else to do.
She sounds so lost, and more sad than you should sound on your wedding day. "Please?" She pulls him slightly, a pantomime of walking, and it takes him no time at all to find the question.
"Wherever you wanna go, I'll take you."
"Down the aisle?"
"Sure, unless you want to call it off. Then we could just go to Burger King."
I know I talk about my husband all the time, but I just can't say enough how warm and pure his heart can be. How he will do anything for the people he loves, and refuses to let any of us go through any of our painful moments alone. He is always there, even if he ends up there accidentally, just on his way to pee.
My sister in law said something to him at the reception, swinging by to hug us fully after washing her makeup off. "I can't believe we almost didn't know you, Eli. That's so stupid to think about, that would have sucked."
An odd way to put it but fuck if I don't think exactly that ALL THE TIME.
