The randomness of Alicole suddenly having nonstop sex makes sense when you remember these writers want to put a stop to Rhaenicent.

They were all for queerbaiting but there was no way in hell they were actually going to make any of their leads queer even if George's books suggest Rhaenyra's bisexuality.

So the very first scene of Alicent is her getting eaten out by Cole, just to remind the audience she's straight and is sexually attracted to man not her stepdaughter.

This has less to do with "is this realistic for the characters?" and more "will this put an end to fan specualtion about the character's sexuality?".

Never considered this. Could be both simultaneously: to make Alicent is straight thing obvious by the frequency of alicole's sex AND the existence of the ship itself becoming HotD canon bc of Alicent given something more to do. But you make great points, anon.

Laughing at “the queerest show” having no canon queer characters except Laenor and Joffrey Lonmouth (both of whom are dead), and completely erasing the very alive lesbian (Sabitha Frey) and very alive bisexual woman (Alysanne Blackwood) and not making it clear whether the third very alive lesbian is a lesbian (Jeyne Arryn).

It is not actually more woke to go with “implications” fueled by tumblr cringe web weaving fever dreams and pseudo intellectual word salad, than to go with the actual overt canon characters. Since this is a show that loves inventing backstories for random dozens like Hugh Hammer, don’t tell me that it would be impossible to add even more backstory for Sabitha Frey, Alysanne Blackwood, and Jeyne Arryn.

We couldn't have had Jessamyne at least silently waiting by the door for Jeyne? My God.

I still don't "understand" the Hugh Hammer bit, except I do bc they want the smallfolk insight without actually devoting as much writing and mental energy to Nettles as much as they know they would. Oh, and they seem to think that to include nettles would be to make Rhaenyra "lose" their little morality play.

A serious conversation is needed on why a show in 2024, with a cast full of queer actors, there is a huge problem of queerphobia. From queerbaiting to queer characters being erased, queer relationships being erased, trans leads being sidelined and transphobes hired on the show.

And a more widespread and active conversation bc people have been talking really since the show came out. I think there's a lot more viewers and more viewers espying the discrepancies and that awful actor I can't remember the name of is is at Rhaenyra's council that's waking up more talkers.

There's just so much to hate about this show...why do you erase an actual queer suggestive coupling b/t Sabitha and Black Aly if you did Rhaenicent and thought this ship was so "feminist" or woman-central? Wouldn't you want more like these, Sara Hess?! Or is that not marketably "cool", to "repeat" yourself? Maybe she was outvoted, idk.

Those leeches will definitely find a way to bring that useless woman into anything Rhaenyra might do tomorrow. Mind you Alicent has been non stop fucking and sucking on Criston all season to the point of getting pregnant, even the gruesome murder of her grandson and her daughter being traumatized couldn’t keep her away from Criston’s dick, but if Rhaenyra kisses Mysaria/has sex with her, they’ll say it means Alicent is sapphic too. Seriously, how does that works, what the hell does this have to do with Alicent ???

Interesting...why indeed? Probably bc in their minds Rhaenyra cannot exist as sapphic without Alicent's very presence imbuing the entire story with sapphicism or something.

Sometimes I wonder how trad wife Alicent stans interact with Rhaenicent-shipping Alicent stans, esp when they happen to be sapphic themselves?

Let’s create a whole new plot and personality for a conservative character and queerbait people with it and at the same time erase canon queer characters (Black Aly, Sabitha Frey). The mindset of the writers in this show is truly something else.

Ironic bc Sara Hess is gay so you'd think that the person who pushed for all of Rhaenyra's writing as being "hot" with Alicent would want more lezzie action. Very strange behavior.

However, D’Arcy is doubtful such energy will manifest itself into anything physical given the characters’ arcs throughout the season. “That sort of erotic energy is very present in their early relationship,” D’Arcy said. “I think Rhaenyra is primarily motivated by a deep desire to be known and seen.
