🥢: 우니 마 온소바 uni ma on soba (Uni Yamaimo Hot Soba) — Lunch with @krnngn33 today. Finally decided to try @mimimyunga out since we knew it was open. I’m gonna outright say that it’s pretty expensive. My sister and I got the most expensive item under cold and hot soba respectively but it’s pretty expensive even for a basic bowl of soba. However, I have to say it was a filling bowl of soba. I don’t think the uni and yamaimo added anything to the hot soba I ordered tbh (I love yamaimo btw) but my sister seemed to like the one she got (sweet shrimp, uni cold soba). I almost felt like I was eating a bowl of ramen tbh cuz of the nori and boiled egg topping.😅 I don’t think the yellow daikon radish went well with the hot soba imo but the other two cabbage side dishes (the pickled one and the spicy one) went really well with the soba. I did the Yelp check-in in order to get the free topping and wow, I’m impressed by the fish cake tempura. It was super delicious, especially with the curry powder on the side. I honestly wasn’t expecting much from that combination but yum, I really liked that. The cashier was really nice so bonus points for that. I’d definitely come back to try their non-soba items like their spicy tuna bowl but honestly, if I were to eat soba here again, I’d probably stick to a basic soba next time and add a fish cake tempura topping to it for $1.50. Oh my... Rarely, you find a place that you almost don't want to tell other people about for fear that long lines will start developing. But Sugidama deserves it all. Because who puts a color-changing light underneath a bed of daikon to light up a salad? 😮 And makes their soba in-house? Also, what's a dragon ball? 😂 I tried a hot soba for the first time. This place makes me think there's never enough meals in a lifetime to try all the amazing food in Boston, much less the world.
