Folks say representation doesn’t matter, but it does. The house movement is vast in Toronto but so chopped up and separate; as ppl are all focused differently. What I love about Apollo Inc is that they’ve brought Detroit folks consistently for years…..YES, we all are a ‘community’ but in Canada and Toronto,Black women are often excluded. I’m not sure if it’s an afterthought or an oversight….
To see more and more black female DJs alongside their tenured counterparts playing globally is incredible!! I love it when DJs throw in political or cultural discourse in the music with house edits,it reminds me where they’re coming from! Kudos,I had a wikked time!
