Inspecting any new findings out in the field must be done, particularly if those resources are found on any planet besides Venus. In this case, it was Earth’s resources. And with the Kell personally inspecting the findings, everyone knows not to miss any hint of detail.
Anything can be a death trap, as everyone knows even a rock can be laced with poison (or anything really). All of them knew that if someone got sloppy, there will be a fitting punishment as a reward. Ritas wasn’t too concerned however, as she was confident that most in her house was smart enough than to overlook anything potentially detrimental. She’s made it clear many times that no matter the importance, anything can be a threat and they need to always be careful of what they allow in.
The scavenging crews brought in quite a few things, most of the equipment reek of Devils as most of it was found abandoned some distance off. All of it was stacked in a area far from the Ketch itself but safely hidden, even with a Skiff floating close by. Ritas paid much attention to practically everything, even drilling the Captains and anyone responsible on these findings.
Ritas came to a sudden stop when she noticed something, she could swear she heard something that did not come from anyone present. The Captain and the few Dregs that were accompanying Ritas shot a few confused glances between each other, unsure on whether to question their Kell was just hearing things. Finally a single muted clang prompted Ritas to order complete silence to the group as the Kell silently made her way towards the source alone. It was no doubt a lone scavenger and she didn’t feel the need for any backup.
Coming over to a steel crate, her massive form hovered over it and searing eyes locked onto a tiny form hiding among the collected objects in said crate. A screech and an attempt to run proved to do little as the Kell caught the tiny Eliksni easily, throwing the little would-be thief between her and the Captain and the Blade’s Dregs.
Stupid she thought, that a Dreg would hide in something so easy to access.
“What is a little thief doing here, I wonder?” a monotone voice so steady, even with the little respect the dirty thief already has, Ritas isn’t really one to be so violent.
Its fate depends on how the tiny Dreg reacts.
Why had she been so stupid?
All she'd wanted was to grab a few supplies, then leave. It was hard to resist such a stash when she'd come across the group, gathering loads of things that were useful. Yaviks' whole life was day to day scavenging, nights spent starving, suckling on what little ether a broken servitor could provide. She was desperate.
The moment that she saw Ritas looming over her, though, she regretted all her choices leading up to that point. And she'd tried to escape, but she was quickly captured. Tossed down, she hit the ground with a thud and quickly tried to scramble to her feet. Her eyes fell on the Kell once more, moving to try to turn and run the other direction... only to take one step and realize she was blocked from all sides.
Panicked eyes flicked around then, before she gave into defeat. She couldn't run from this one... her only hope was that this giant Kell wouldn't kill her. Hunching over to appear smaller, she turned back towards Ritas again, eyes looking up at her with terror. Who wouldn't be terrified in her position, stuck between giant captains and a Kell twice her size?
"Please!" She wasn't usually one to beg, but there wasn't really a choice. Her hands raised, showing she was unarmed, defenseless. Maybe this Kell would take pity. "I didn't take anything." Mostly because she hadn't had a chance yet, but... "Let me go. I didn't..."
