having chickens is so. it’s so. it’s so satisfying and INTERESTING I’m. Cry. I could watch them peck and groom forever.

I love my two black baby chicks, they give off great spoopy vibes just in time for Halloween. one is a silkie feathered bantam Cochin who is probably just left the chick stage. the other is a smooth feathered bantam Cochin pullet who is still tiny! with the most beautiful beetling. and my big lavender and white girls are just ugly, dirty dinosaurs so obviously I’d die for them even though they’d eat me if they were given the chance.

the wife and I are putting finishing touches on the coop and the run today. and hopefully repairing the worst of the fence so we can finally let the much harder to control lavender ladies out to explore the yard.

our babies are named duck and hashtag. and our hens are named Francis and Princess Leia Fischer. or Leia or Fischer for short.

Francis is the head hen, she’s a meany but she hasn’t been bullying Fischer which is GOOD because Fischer had signs of bullying from her old flock. HOWEVER my older Cochin queen deffo squares up to these two girls who are like two and a half times her size! She does not currently stand a chance. And Fischer tried to go after the baby because she’s. A coward. So they are still gonna be held separate for a while. until the babes can hold their own. There’s gonna be a real stand off. fwiw tho, Francis stood between me and Fischer to protect her so I think she’s gonna be a good HBIC, not a bully. I don’t see a future where hashtag is queen tho she’ll always be MY QUEEN

My younger sister just posted a super cute facebook post celebrating her and her girlfriends first month together (d'aww) and i was the first person to respond. And i commented "GAAY".

I'm hilarious i know.
