I have several books for children written and I'm working on illustrations.

Here's my issue. I am so tech illiterate. If you need to learn to use a drop spindle or make a bone fish hook, I'm your guy! But I have no idea how to get a picture into a computer and put it all together into a book. Everything I've had published so far was not illustrated. So here's what I need!

I need tutorials/instructions that break this stuff down like it's being explained to a grade schooler.

How do I get an image onto a computer? Do I take a picture with my phone and send it to myself?

What image quality is needed? How do I determine that?

How does image sizing work? How do I adjust sizing and file types for different applications? How do I know what is needed for those things?

How do I edit an image on a computer? I have GIMP and Canva and Krita but don't know how to use them (except I do know how to make a book in Canva once I have the text and images within the needed parameters. I've only done text and covers tho)

What is a layer? How do those work?

Basically I have no money, I use pretty much exclusively open source and free programs like LibreOffice. I have a smartphone, a tablet, and a laptop. None of them are high end. Got the phone free with the phone plan, the other 2 were gifts, I do not have the option of upgrading or buying additional equipment.

But I have ideas. I have stuff I need to create. So I need to find a way to do it with the stuff I have. I am gonna learn this skill set, old dog style. Any links, tag search recommendations, threads with info, videos, anything will be so appreciated.

when will clicking on the tag go to the tumblr tag page or the user's tag page, from which there is apparently no way to get to the tag page overall. who knows

can every single tumblr user agree to post the exact same number of times a day so my dashboard gets a precisely even distribution of those i'm following. thank you

following tags seemed like a great idea until more than one thing exists with the same name. maybe i should just get into the other thing as well that's probably easier than getting people to agree on a tag

from what i gather each tumblr user gets precisely one advertisement each that is shown to them repeatedly every five posts. actually i like this better than other places, there is at least only one thought per day being drilled into your head by the interests of capital
