God damnit, where was he? He knew he shouldn’t have made him mad, but how was he suppose to know he would venture off in the middle of the night?! Sherlock glanced over at the clock: 2:38 a.m.
Sherlock picked up his phone and hastily dialed John’s number. He had texted him a few minutes ago but he never replied. He placed the phone to his ear and waited. It rang a few times, Sherlock impatiently tapping his foot on the ground as he waited. The ringing suddenly stopped, followed by a “the number you have dialed is currently unavailable, please-”
Sherlock abruptly ended the call and shoved his phone into his jacket. Just before he could get to the door, it slammed open and in waltzed John. He stood there for a second, eyeing Sherlock who also kept his ground.
“Why didn’t you answer your phone?” Sherlock finally broke the silence.
“It died right after I left.”
Sherlock rubbed the back of his neck and stepped forward a few steps. “Why did you leave?”
“You had me worried sick! I thought...”
John tilted his head and walked forward as well. “What, Sherlock? You thought what?”
“God damnit John! I thought something happened to you. You always answer your phone, even when you’re mad at me. I texted you ten times! Then I called you and you didn’t pick up, what was I suppose to think? You were gone for three hours!”
John had closed the distance between them and was gripping Sherlock by the shoulders to calm him. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Sherlock, look at me. I’m here. I’m okay.”
Sherlock was close to crying but he merely nodded.
“God,” John breathed, suddenly embracing Sherlock. Sherlock wrapped his arms around John and pressed his face against his shoulder. “I didn’t know you’d get so upset. I swear I won’t don’t that again.”
“I’d have you tied up before you even tried,” Sherlock laughed.
John’s breath suddenly hitched. Sherlock pulled away to look at him and noticed John’s cheeks had turned a slight shade of red. “What? Did I say something wrong?”
“N-No,” John stammered, “You said something very right.”
