Hello, long time no see! Sorry for the lack of updates >.< I got really busy this past semester and didn’t have much time for drawing.
My friends and I got talking about our first digital drawings and that inspired me to make my first ever art timeline! I love seeing my progress and how much I’ve grown. I’m looking forward to improving my art this summer and in the future so please look forward to it!
Long explanation below for those who are interested in the details of my art progress ^u^
As you can see there was a very large period of time in between 2013 and 2016 where I didn’t actually draw digitally. My 2013 sketch was actually my one of my few sketches done digitally. My February 2016 drawing is probably my first finished digitally done piece (not including the digital stickers I drew back then. I then took a long break till I had more conventions in the Fall and I had to draw more prints (conventions are a big help in motivating me to draw lol) Lonk’s initial pose sketch was drawn back in February, but it was fixed quite a bit when I finished it in November.
I took another break and had a convention in March which prompted me to draw more again and that’s where I drew the Panda Girl art and the portrait of Jim from Trollhunters. Trollhunters had just released earlier that year and I was so excited about it! (I said “For the Glory of Merlin, Daylight is Mine to Command” to my roommates so much hahaha) I met another artist that watched Trollhunters and we traded prints. Whenever I meet other Trollhunter fans I get really excited. Those are some of my happiest con memories ^u^
In November, I was taking a break from drawing my art project by sketching Niles in my sketchbook. I wanted to practice drawing larger traditionally and his face sketch actually took the whole page. I’m very used to drawing small which means when I draw larger my proportions are almost always off. I also wanted to practice expressions and I love how I drew his expression here!
This drawing is actually very important to me in terms of progress because I’m not very good at drawing guys, expressions, or drawing larger and I feel like I did all those things well in this drawing. I loved my sketch so much that I finished it digitally!
That’s all for this post! Thanks for making it down here and reading through my rambles haha
Note: In between these drawings, I wasn’t always taking breaks though! I was also practicing drawing chibis and using copic markers! But I have taken very long breaks without drawing due to be busy ^u^”
