So today’s post is 100% inspired by my recent rewatching of all the HP movies (whoops!) and my recent trip to the Harry Potter store in NY. I bought a shit ton of the special, magical candies they have so I figured I’d tell y’all what to get and what to skip! Let’s go!
GET
Exploding Bonbons
These were absolutely delicious. The white chocolate coating was nice and light (not too sweet) and the orange/pineapple fillings were refreshing and blended well! There’s also a really fun magical factor that I won’t spoil but is really cool!
Fizzing Whizzbees
These have a super cute shape (little bees) and have a similar magical factor to the bonbons. These candies are all pretty expensive so these are great because you get a big bag! I really enjoyed the fruity flavor but if you eat too many at once it can get a little artificial tasting.
Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans
These are super fun! They really have both disgusting and tasty flavors! It’s super fun to just pick randomly with a group of friends or family! I would say something else about the taste but honestly, they’re not supposed to taste great so. I highly recommend these though!
Butterbeer Ice Cream
This ice cream was super tasty and definitely sharable! It was a vanilla soft serve with butterscotch syrup swirled throughout so it was really rich in taste but still delicious. I also think it's a great deal because this cup was huge and super filled but was cheaper than just a regular cup of the liquid butterbeer (which I’ll talk about later).
Shock-o-choc
These chocolates were...interesting. They’re dark chocolate with chili powder mixed in and they definitely have a kick to them. The chocolate was kind of cheap quality however I would recommend getting it because it’s a lot of fun to try. And even better, it’s a lot of fun to tell your loved ones its regular chocolate and make them try it lol!
SKIP
Felix Felicis
This was like 6 bucks and was just a shot of sugar water. Like not even flavored so yeah don’t get it.
Amortentia (Love Potion)
Same as the Felix Felicis except it was rose-flavored so even worse. This one did have a cute bottle though so if you wanted to buy it and display it I get it.
Peppermint Toads
These are actually pretty good quality chocolate but the mint was super overpowering and kind of medicinal in flavor! I usually love mint and chocolate flavored things but it was too much even eating one of these tiny toads.
Butterbeer (Liquid)
This form of butterbeer was just a bit too much for me. Like I said before they use butterscotch syrup but here it wasn’t cut with anything so I found it too sweet and too strong. Also, again, a small cup of this was more expensive than a big cup of ice cream.
Chocolate Frog
Now you do get a lot of chocolate here but 1) it's hard to cut or bite through cause the frog is completely solid and 2) the chocolate was super cheap and not tasty at all. You get a wizard trading card with this which I do think is a cool keepsake but it's random so you could get a witch/wizard who you don’t even know. So what I recommend instead is to buy the slightly more expensive version where you get a plastic frog and an Albus Dumbledore trading card because then you can display the frog AND you have a card with a wizard you actually know.
That's it! I hope this helps someone or just is informative! Thanks for reading! See y’all at the next feeding! ❤️ angel
