Woop! It’s HPN Awareness Week! HPN stands for Home Parenteral Nutrition and it’s home my daughter gets her nutrition, making her one of about 250 people in Aus and NZ in the HPN club. It involves regular blood tests, a sterile area within our home to do connections and disconnections, weekly deliveries of stock, supplies and the PN itself, a special fridge, a whole team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and others, and a lot of special training for me. We’ve been doing it for three years now and for us it’s almost normal, if donning mask and gloves and accessing a line that goes to my daughter’s heart each day can be called normal. If you’d like to learn more there are new resources going up at www.pndu.org or just shoot me a question. You never know when HPN might become your life line too. xx . #homeparenteralnutrition #pndu #parenteralnutriton #parenteralnutritiondownunder #hpnawarenessweek
This is @iamashtonbell. You will always see him with a back pack on. For HPN Awareness week, i'll share the facts: There are many disease states that can result in TPN dependence and therefore the need for HPN. Ashton's dependence was the result of intestinal malrotation (when the small intestines don't rotate properly in the abdominal cavity properly during utero), which turned into volvulus (the tangling of the small intestine) - resulting in the majority loss of his small bowel, 96% to be exact, had to be resected (cut out), by the time the doctors got to it, during an emergency surgery. TPN kept & continues to keep him alive and thriving. #hpnawarenessweek #intestinalmalrotation #volvulus #BNULifeStyle #BNUmag #ShortGutBaby #ShortBowelSyndrome #Broviac #CentralLine #ShortBowelAwareness #TPN #TPNdependent #TPNbaby #TPNawareness #gTube #gTubeBaby #gTubeAwareness #HospitalLife #SpecialNeedsParenting #SpecialNeedsMom #StyleYourLife #MommyLife #BillionaireBellGang #Parenting #Parenting101 #CreateYourLife #Mompreneur #Womompreneur @guts_and_gumption Thanks for leading the way!
