Couple of things. First off, this is tanaka’s make or break match. Dateko was asahi’s, seijoh was yamaguchi’s, shiratorizawa was tsukishima’s, wakunan was ennoshita’s, and now it’s tanaka’s turn. He’s gotta pull through this or else it looks like he might get stuck. I believe in u son 💪💪💪

Second off, I know what people will say but I happen to think that tsukishima made exactly the move everyone expected him to make and it wasn’t the wrong choice either. Yes, tanaka called for a ball and I imagine everyone knew he really wanted it, but this is karasuno. Everyone wants it. And asahi is the ace. They really needed to score here and while making it might have lifted tanaka right up, missing this spike might have been the last straw, especially since it might have cost them the set. Like they really needed to score here. Both teams are over 25 points. The next team to score consecutively wins this set and they only need to win two. Any misses could be the end. So tsukishima took the most reasonable route and tossed to the ace. Missing this wouldn’t break asahi and he is the team’s power spiker. Those rational calls are what tsukishima is best for. If it were kageyama, he might have taken the risk and pulled either a miracle or a dramatic defeat. Might have. In the end, it’d also depend on what he judged to be most important in that split second. Tsukishima judged that it was too big a gamble and even those who were hpping it’d go to tanaka couldn’t dispute it. In true tsukki fashion, he didn’t raise a fuss. He decided who was the best bet and went right for it. I think some readers were expecting him to explain or say something afterwards, but honestly? I think it’s best he didn’t. He doesn’t have anything to justify and scrambling to do so would just make tanaka feel worse. What would he even say? And whatever he said would look like pity at that point. Leaving it unadressed means that it’s just another toss. Do kageyama or suga justify not tossing to people? Not really. This was just another routine set-up. The ball didn’t go to you this time, tough bits. The game’s still rolling so don’t dwell on it. Maybe one day tsukishima will take the risk, but this time he didn’t and no one can really find fault with that given the circumstances.

Third off, bokuto’s face. You can’t even see it but you can feel how tense he was. Look at him go.
