Carter grew up in the Lower East Side of New York. Her dad worked multiple minimum wage jobs just to keep a roof over her and her older brother’s head. As soon as she was old enough, she started working side jobs to help out at home. She was daddy’s little princess but as much as he wanted to give her everything, they usually couldn’t afford it so whenever he wanted to do something different with her room, she had to figure something out with items they already had around the house.

This is how she discovered her love of interior design and repurposing household items into decorative pieces.
With the way she grew up, she learned that she had to fight for the things she wanted in life, she wasn’t afraid to stand up for herself and in turn her friends and family.

She would do anything for the people she cares about.

biography.

evelyn and her half-siblings we the product of single mother maria vazquez and her endless rotation of boyfriends. she didn’t know her father, he had left when her mother became pregnant. being the oldest, it was always evie’s responsibility to care her siblings, make sure they made it to school and had as normal of a childhood as they could, even at the expense of her own. she was six when her brother mateo was born, seven when camila joined them, and fifteen when her mother got pregnant with cris. 

it wasn’t unusual for evie’s mother to disappear for days at a time, but when evie was sixteen, maria left for good. now responsible for three kids under the age of ten, evie dropped out of school and got a job as a line cook in an upscale restaurant. while it was a good, reliable job that didn’t ask questions as long as she worked hard and kept her head down, it didn’t always pay the bills, leaving evie to find less legal ways of making money.

biography.

as the third child and only boy in the hale family, rémi was often left to his own devices. his sisters all had each other and, with the exception of amelia, all pretty much left him alone. they were a close, happy family, but even as a child, something felt off. he struggled to connect with anyone but his father kent and his sister amelia. the closest in age to him, amelia had always been his best and closest friend, and ultimately would become the only family member he kept in contact with. 

despite being a difficult child growing up, kent never gave up on his son. he would always treat rémi with respect and compassion and let him work through whatever angst he was dealing with. kent was his biggest supporter as rémi figured himself out. he attended every debate competition, bought rémi his first pride flag, and even taught him to drive, which turned out to be a mistake

tw: car accident, death, coma // rémi had only had his driver’s license less than a month when he accidentally ran a red light while out shopping with kent. the impact of the collision caused their car to flip six times. when rémi woke up in the hospital a year and a half later, he learned that his father had been pronounced dead on the scene. in an attempt to distract himself from the overwhelming guilt and grief, he threw himself into catching up with his school work. 

three days after he walked across that graduation stage, rémi packed up everything he owned and moved to nyc, ignoring his family’s attempt at supporting him through his trauma. they really tried, but rémi knew their father’s death was on his hands and couldn’t bear to face them. determined never to have time for his own thoughts, he enrolled in school. first, into a nursing degree, and shortly after, nyu. 

he is now working full-time as a nurse in the nicu ward at the hospital while working his way through med school, with the intention of becoming a pediatric surgeon. he loves children, likely due to being raised in such a large family, and kids are usually spared from his normally sour disposition.

biography.

born the middle child of three, all close in age, beckett morgan never had to be alone. even if he wanted to be. he wasn’t really old enough to remember much about his dad, as he left before the youngest was born. his mother and older brother daxton did everything they could to protect bex and raine from the horrors of the world, and he will forever be grateful for that. 

beckett was eight when he discovered gymnastics. some of the kids in their neighbourhood had joined a class, and bex was in love with the sport instantly. he worked his ass off to get himself into lessons, occasionally getting himself and his siblings into trouble with his money-making schemes. he didn’t want to put any undue stress on his mother, although she has always been his biggest fan and greatest supporter. when he was fifteen, they moved to pennsylvania, and he was instantly recruited to the best gym in the state, even though he had to travel over an hour to and from practice. it was worth it, though, as he was suddenly competing and his hobby was paying off, literally. 

two months and three days after his eighteenth birthday, beckett morgan and his family landed in rio de janeiro, brazil for the 2016 summer olympics. as the youngest competitor on team usa, bex knew he was in over his head. he was young and reckless and stupid, but he had real talent. despite almost getting himself kicked off the team and sent home, he ended up walking away with four medals, one of them being gold. 

while bex’s life got crazy, his brother had enrolled in nyu. since the two of them share a brain cell, it was only logical for bex to go with him once the olympics were over. now his life is a flurry of competitions and training, preparing for the next summer olympics, intending to compete again. unfortunately he tends to push himself too far, sacrificing his own health and wellbeing so he doesn’t let down all of the people who have supported him.

when he’s not training or competing, bex can be found with his nose in a sketchbook, writing and drawing for his graphic novel. not that he’d ever admit it. he’s extremely private about his sketchbook, even though he’s rarely seen without it. he often has trouble sleeping and can usually be found on the roof of the building after dark, haunted by things he’d never say out loud.

lysjena was sixteen when she moved from barbados to new york city, hoping to make it on broadway, leaving her mum and brother in bridgetown. it took her a year and a half to land a role worth writing home about, and another three years to star in a show of her own. she was going to play the love interest of a broadway legend almost twice her age. they had chemistry on stage, so it was no surprise that things were quick to heat up off stage as well. even though he was married.

when they were inevitably caught, her co-star threw her under the bus, accusing her of being an insane stalker trying to break up his marriage. he had her fired from the show, and word quickly spread. if anyone would dare cast her, they buried her in the kick line. she watched the man who ruined her career only get more and more famous. so, she leaked a deep dark secret to the press, and suddenly the whole world knew things he had only ever told her, causing his entire life to fall apart. she still has no regrets.

she was able to get a job as a dancer at a burlesque lounge under miss rose, who soon became her mentor. miss rose picked up the broken pieces of lysjena’s heart, gave her the stage name of lucy, and gave her a reason to dance again. lysjena continues to work at the lounge as a performer, although since she took over after miss rose’s retirement, she mostly spends her time running the club.

in an attempt to protect herself from getting hurt again, lysjena has adopted her stage persona, lucy, as part of her. she is confident and cocky and bright and always fills any room she’s in. she has become a fun aunt figure, and is a big supporter of everyone in the building.

biography.

born on a horse farm in the middle of nowhere, australia, lazarus and his twin were raised by his grandparents, as his father was overseas. his mother was prone to schizophrenic episodes, so his father’s parents stepped up and took their son’s new bride and her twin daughters in with a warm welcome. when the girls were five, a new set of twins were born. their mother was in the midst of a schizophrenic episode when she went into labour, telling the nurses that god had instructed her what to name the new twin boys, even if that name held no connection to the family. it made childhood interesting.

it wasn’t until his brother stepped in and dragged laz to america with him that he even tried to do something with his life. his brother forced him to go to meeting for injured vets and he was eventually recruited to be a volunteer firefighter with a few others from the meetings. he soon found a new purpose to his life, so he quit drinking and got his own apartment in golden. he’s been sober for three years now and is always working on his newest invention. he’s not the friendliest person in the building but he keeps to himself and tries not to cause trouble.

dorian is an incredibly secretive person. he never speaks of anything from before he came to the building two years ago, and with his selective mutism, what he does say is rare as it is. however he is a soft, kind boy, who keeps to himself and rarely causes trouble. he suffers from severe ptsd, anxiety, and depression, and is rarely seen without his service dog, roger. he currently works as an author, writing harlequin paperbacks under a pseudonym.

Wyatt was born in Chicago and raised by her mother for the first eight years of her life. Her mother was sick for most of her life and Wyatt took care of her a lot. They didn’t have a lot of money but they made it work. On her eighth birthday, she had to take her mom back to the hospital and she never came home from that trip.

After spending a few years in foster care, she was adopted by an actress and her husband who was a managing partner at a law firm. They tried for the first couple of months to get to know Wyatt but she pushed them away, not trusting that they wouldn’t leave her. After that, they gave up and pawned her off on nannies and boarding school.

Her adoptive parents had a son, Everett, who was a few years younger than her. Wyatt was always very protective of him. When Wyatt was home, they really only had each other since their parents were gone so often. She grew up being a caretaker to her mother so it was her first instinct to take care of this little boy, even help raise him. Even when Wyatt was sent to boarding school, the two were in constant contact.

At the age of sixteen, Wyatt dropped out of school and went travelling around the world before settling in New York at a flower shop. She liked the middle class life, almost preferred it.
