Shane was sitting on that damn bench for five straight minutes with only one shoe on, staring into the middle distance, just waiting to get the timing exactly right so Ilya would be rounding the corner just as Shane was oh so casually putting his last shoe on, so Ilya would think that he had caught Shane as he was about to leave. Shane literally planned this. And then he immediately fucked it all up by fumbling the shoe so badly at the sight of Ilya's glistening wet body that it literally made him stutter. Subtlety, thy name is not Shane.
