…this Congress and this President have established themselves as self-appointed aristocrats and monarchs, with this bill representing a legislative Maginot Line separating Congress, the President and the corporations who appear to own them — from the rest of us rabble. Amash’s offering is tantamount to an obese glutton offering crumbs to the starving — symbolically empty and useless.

Conservative friends: Ahhh! Fox News says Obama is signing a bill that takes away free speech! Impeach him impeach him impeach him!

Me: .... uh... *looks up bill* Says that it's just an update to a bill from 1972 that prevents free speech while trespassing, and trespassing is illegal anyway, so... yeah.

It's a bill Congress passed last year to limit your right to protest and your right to freedom of speech.

You should totally let your representatives know that you're not cool with that.

Under H.R. 347, which has more commonly been labeled the Trespass Bill by Congress, knowingly entering a restricted area that is under the jurisdiction of Secret Service protection can garner an arrest. The law is actually only a slight change to earlier legislation that made it an offense to knowingly and willfully commit such a crime. Under the Trespass Bill’s latest language chance, however, someone could end up in law enforcement custody for entering an area that they don’t realize is Secret Service protected and “engages in disorderly or disruptive conduct” or “impede[s] or disrupt[s] the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions.”

One critical quote in this clip: "the legislation the president signed last Thursday, overwhelmingly supported by both parties..." Placing the blame solely on Obama is idiotic.

This article describes well why I will not be voting for the President, despite not liking Mitt Romney. From terrorizing innocent Pakistanis, to extrajudicial killing of American citizens, to bombing Libya without authorization, his term in office has been as egregious as George W. Bush's.

Mitt Romney's transgressions are numerous.  But they are not less severe than what President Obama has done and will do in another four years in office.

Know Congressional Candidate David Seaman

He may be running for Congress in Florida's 20th District, but he is so much more. 

David Seaman recently stumbled onto my radar of progressive thinkers when he was a guest on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. I was invigorated to see someone taking politics by the balls and standing for something he is not afraid to discuss in-depth and fight to become a reality. Seaman is charging ahead to retain the freedoms America was built on, as we learned in our grammar school textbooks. He is a self-proclaimed fan of the Bill of Rights, and regularly questions the practicality and sanity of legislation like NDAA and HR 347. 

I may not agree with his stance on everything or the path he takes to reach conclusions, but I'm glad to say he is genuine. 

Before hearing Seaman, politics left a bad taste in my mouth. It was all polished, careful soundbites and debates about the least interesting issues for our country and our world. I'm glad to say I'm excited by this guy and you should be too!
