Nobody's questioning why Goncharov was on the shoe.
Sure, a movie has sprung from the shoe clues, but somebody devised and made the shoe. What was their motivation?
I like to imagine it was part of a scheme to convince one person (a shoe impressario?) that there had been a movie of this title. But the shoemaker never expected the Internet to become complicit in this! Now the lie of Goncharov is out of control!
