my experience 2 months on T
additional context, im on a high dose of T every 6 weeks. after my next injection (the 3rd) it'll be every 12 weeks since my T levels will be up to where we've been aiming/stabilized.
something to note before reading is that everyone is different and how you react to T is largely genetic!!!!!! for me ive found that T has done more than i expected it to in 2 months, and thats largely because i was referencing others who ended up having a more gradual timeline.
for me having faster results meant i had prepared myself for slow progress but ended up getting pelted with rocks instead, rude shock but eventually the other side runs out of rocks to throw and things have chilled out.
week 1
bottom growth was obvious within the first few days, ""morning wood"" is a real thing. can verify that, was getting it daily for a while. libido didn't necessarily accompany this though, its just more of a thing that happens. like yeah im awake now and so is The Thing.
on the topic of it being obvious, for the first week bottom growth was moreso obvious in sensitivity rather than growth like some would expect. it wasnt painful or anything, i was just a lot more conscious that it existed because of said sensitivity.
the appetite increase is insane!!! something to note for anyone currently on a diet involving lower intakes i.e. a calorie deficit, (because i was on one prior) chances are you will have to either adjust or get off of said diet, but please make sure to discuss with your doctor beforehand!!!!!!! the reason for the appetite increase is that due to things like increased muscle mass, your body will use and therefore need more energy in the form of food. your appetite will increase because you physically NEED more food, your intake is increasing with your appetite. for me this meant adjusting my diet to still be a deficit, but to be inline with my intake. so i am eating more, but still on a deficit. if you're interested in any sort of dieting/eating in accordance to fitness please discuss with trusted medical professionals, do not consult communities trying to get as thin as possible etc. do not fall down an ED rabbithole. take care of yourself!!!!
mood swings and irritability became obvious pretty early, the irritability itself felt like instead of my usual 1-10 scale of annoyance it had been replaced with a lightswitch, you could sometimes balance it yeah but the lights will still be on or off. dealing with it was hard at first but shocker those mindfulness techniques all my childhood therapists were pushing have some value if the negative emotion youre feeling isnt soulcrushing. a good conversation, mindful drawing or just generally self regulating and taking a moment were all good ways to blow off steam.
acne made itself known pretty soon, its not extreme its sort of just a redo of when i was 13 and going through the first puberty. back and shoulder acne has been a bit of a pain though, i didnt get it beforehand i dont think. how will i show off my back muscles under these conditions... theres dots bro :(
didnt really happen in week 1 and has been more gradually, but related to skin health ive also found my skin tone/complexion has evened out if that makes sense? its best explained in this image, like im a bit more tan overall in the face similar to the image on the right.
week 2 - now
libido is real. just prior to going on T i found myself IDing around a middle ground of asexual to graysexual, but after going on T I found that shifted to be around the graysexual to allosexual area.
also T definitely made me gayer like many joke about LOL. i went from being a bi ace to bi gay, romantically i can be interested in men and women as usual, but T seems to have made me exclusively sexually attracted to men. 100% just related to the libido stuff but i just found it funny enough to bring up since i've followed a pattern i've heard others discuss.
within the second week i had my first voice crack, and it was by the third that people commented on my voice. i think what a lot of people might not fully realise prior to going on T is that the vocal changes are less "oh cool my voice can be deeper now" and moreso that your vocal range moves, meaning that while you gain a deeper pitch you also lose the higher pitch. for most people this is a good and expected thing but i used to use my higher pitch as a joke among friends so having my throat feel sore after squeezing out a high pitched "yippee" was a new thing to get used to.
another thing related to vocal changes is that i found that in order to not have a voice crack each sentence/talk comfortably i had to use some of the voice training techniques i had lightly heard of (talking from the back of the throat/chest instead of the front of the mouth), funnily enough though this means that whenever i am around people im close to or in a panicked mood/talking fast i have the WORST voice cracks to ever exist. it is hilarious. both for me and those involved. seriously you should hear me in horror games
i already had somewhat impressive "facial fuzz" prior to going on T, it wasnt really noticeable unless you were looking for it. but after going on T the fuzz on my top lip has darkened, its not super noticeable, it looks a shadow.
on the topic of hair darkening, the hair on my arms has darkened pretty noticeably, and the hair around my stomach has done so as well. i already had a bit of a "happy trail", so now its pretty much just intensified. i dont think ive really noticed an insane amount of hair growth, moreso just the darkening of hair. but we'll see! pray for me.
probably related to the fact im currently on school holidays, but the irritability has calmed down a lot. i've also just generally chilled out a lot more, i feel more calm and relaxed overall.
i also feel more confident overall. i dunno end post ive lost motivation to continue writing HAHA
for additional info regarding pain and injections: i found my first injection was WAY worse than my second. like holy shit. i'd say i do really well with injections, hell you shouldve seen me at my last one, easy as hell just let me yap and you'll be questioning if i even got a shot. reiterating what i said initially, i get injections in the hip, which for me means i lie on my side on a little bed and a qualified nurse gives me my injection. i get the option to do it in the top of my glute (upper buttock) but i just go with the hip because its easier pants wise. the first injection was insane though, since its a longer injection it meant that i had to lie there even after the initial prick while the solution itself injected. its hard to explain but it was like i could physically feel the pain spread through my leg, like roots shooting through (roots that hurt like a bitch). it hurt to sit down until the next day which kinda sucked the second was completely fine though, i got the prick and mentally prepared for the spread but instead apparently it was just. OVER!!!!! extremely easy injection and it didnt hurt to sit down after. i think something was different in the way they did it probably, i dunno it just didnt hurt and was so much easier.
yay end of post. if i feel like adding anything then ill either rb or edit to add said info.
