A reminder for those who need it
Every time you post about how much you hate men and that they all should die violently, an egg's shell gets a bit thicker and that closet gets deeper
transfems and trans women with transmasc or trans men boyfriends: you are loved and valid all the same. your transfemininity is not based on who you date. you are not less transfem for dating a trans man or transmasc. you aren't a "traitor" or "wasting time" dating non-transfems. you will still be the happiest, no matter who you get with! not all transmascs and trans men are evil and will love and respect you the same as anybody else who loves you! don't let anybody else tell you how to love!

Okay having lived at the end of the era of âtrans people who want to be respected should be Normalâ, I can safely say that it sucked.
Too many people were judgey, passing defined everything, and too many of us were homophobic just at a baseline. These folks have rose tinted glasses for a period which our community collectively agreed to move the fuck on from. You donât want to go to an event and be judged by your so called friends for not passing. You donât want to be ostracized or shunned for being âtoo weirdâ.
It wasnât always or even often like that, but it was often enough that it sucked. And I was just there for the end of it.
It has been pride month for 8 hours and Iâve already seen 5 posts about either killing straight people or asking them if theyâre sure theyâre straight.
It sure is fun being transhet during pride month and getting to spend the entire month having your existence written off as like that of an outsider.

Letâs talk about T4T.
In recent years, the argument has been made that T4T originally stands for âtransfem4transfemâ, instead of âtrans4transâ. I was surprised, as when I found myself in trans spaces in the early â10s T4T was unanimously meant to refer to the latter, not former, definition. Now maybe Iâm wrong, I was a child and not aware of the term for being trans, so I wasnât on Craigslist. As such, I wanted to investigate as much of the history of T4T as I could.
Oddly, though, what I found indicates that T4T is more open than even the latter definition, not less. Every definition Iâve found (not direct from the site itself) is about hookups between trans people and crossdressers, with no indication if the latter group needs to be trans or not. Even the post with pics from the site itself only shows screenshots from 2017, a full 7 years after I came out and over a decade and a half after the original postings from the site itself.
This was all a bit shocking to me, but I kept looking. Unfortunately, almost every possible avenue towards a source I found was paywalled.
The only real free sources I found were blogposts made in the mid 2010s or later, with a handful of trans people claiming that they were part of the community that originally popularized the term in use outside of a sexual context.
Ultimately, I donât think the origin quite matters. It evolved to mean Trans4Trans outside of its original context (both as a sexual term and a Craigslist exclusive term) at least as early as â07 or â06, and what matters in language is how it has evolved, not its original use case. Still, Iâm glad to have learned something new, and am personally glad to have T4T as something for all trans people, not exclusively one group of trans people looking for a hookup.

(I also could have been more thorough, but unless Iâm writing an academic paper on this or a similar subject Iâm not about to spend an entire day researching.)

Important update to the Wikipedia situation:
It seems that the motion to delete Discrimination against transgender men was struck down on the basis that the user who suggested the article be deleted was doing so simply because she didn't like that the article existed.
Do not go and harass that user. I don't think anyone has thus far but making it clear, do not do this. As I understand it, she may be prevented from making edits on gender-related articles in the future due to her conduct here. I think, given her transphobic actions, that is fair. Nobody need do anything else.
In the meantime, if you have the time, please consider helping to improve the article or keep an eye on it to remove vandalism. There's terfs every now and again who change every instance of trans men in the article to "biological women". So the more eyes on this page to tackle that the better.
Thank you to everyone who spared a moment to participate in the discussion on the side of keeping the article. I turned off reblogs on my original post when it was clear the decision was a speedy keep so that people wouldn't panic and think the problem was still ongoing.
