omg for your wips could you talk about Hot Summer Nights 🥺 in the spirit of summer vacation approaching (also welcome back I hope your hiatus helped ❤️)

Hi Ley!!!!!! and AH lately summer Levi is all I can think about. Here is some best friends to lovers/summer romance:

Hot Summer Nights (best friends to lovers)

Levi ignores the flutter he gets in his stomach just from looking at you. Sprawled on a beach chair with your hair squished under a baseball cap, sunglasses perched on the very tip of your nose so you can read your book. You balance a pen in your free hand, twirling it between your fingers. It’s a habit you’ve had since middle school. That, and biting your nails.

Your white button up is large enough to cover your bottom, and as much as he’s trying to be respectful, it’s damn near impossible when your thighs look so soft. He averts his gaze as soon as the thought crosses his mind and mentally chides himself for being so perverse. You're his best fucking friend, for Christ sake. He shouldn’t be leering at you like a damn creep.

While you devour your frayed copy of some romance novel you’ve already read half a dozen times, Levi’s skimming your annotated copy of Wuthering Heights. He came to the beach without reading material, hence why you offered up the only extra book you had in your tote.

“You’re an English major. Shouldn’t you be reading this?” he asks, flapping the book cover.

You peer at him over your shades. Your lips curl, and he has to shift his gaze to avoid the lush gleam from your tongue wetting the bottom one. “That’s actually the reason I’m not reading it,” you say. “Modern romance is the only thing I can seem to stomach nowadays.”

He hums. “What’s your beach read about then?”

You turn sheepish. “None of your business.”

“Are you seriously reading smut on the beach? Surrounded by dozens of people and your male friend?”

“First of all, don’t ever say ‘male’ ever again. Weirdo. And second, so what if I was? You’d never know.”

He drapes his forearm over his eyes, creating a makeshift visor. The sun continues to douse your bodies in dry heat that only the sea can cure. You sigh defeatedly and fan yourself with your book.

“Did you put sunscreen on?” you ask, just to be sure.

He nods. “Yes. You?”

What did you think of the new hsm trailer with Carlos and the blonde guy?

I was pleasantly surprised by it tbh. I had hoped that because the show was leaning so much into the straight relationships that there would be some ‘cover’ to slip in something for Carlos and since Seb was playing Sharpay it made sense that he’d be a potential love interest for him. But I didn’t think Disney would be so bold as to advertise them in a promo like that. It looks like the clips we see all from one scene which seems to be a private choreography session which is zesty. I still have low expectations because it’s Disney but it does look like Seb is playing the piano in several different scenes and is at a house party that the cast has so hopefully we’ll get a nice story line for those two (Sarlos? Seblos?)

I really did like the promo as a whole, I think it does a great job of showcasing the series. They’re going hard with the Ricky/Nini/EJ love triangle which I’m sure will be messy but it does seem like Ricky and Nini is the ‘real’ ship and Nini and EJ is just an obstacle in its way and EJ being seemingly the only senior of the main kids seems to support that, are they going to cram S2 and S3 into the same school year as S1 or will S3 take place the year after he’s graduated when Ricky and Nini will be seniors? I do think that the show will tip its hand fairly early on as to whether Nicky or NJ is the route they’re going. We’ll see how much development everyone gets, it’s a big cast and it does seem like the characters who are playing actors such as Ricky, Nini, EJ, and Gina, will get more focus than those who play backstage roles

Yes I will be, I’m planning to write ep reviews though I don’t know if I’ll be posting on the days eps are released or not since I’m not sure yet how I’ll be watching the eps

I’m happy for Sofia, but I know the HSM series is going to get a lot of hate from petty people who grew up watching the movies. I hope she won’t let it bother her. The hate the kim possible movie is getting right now is crazy.

HSM might get some hate but I think it well be much more well received than the Kim Possible live action movie for the simple reason that the Kim Possible movie looks objectively awful. HSM may or may not end up being a good show but Disney seems to be putting a fair bit of money and effort into it as a sort of initial centrepiece of the Disney + service. And filming on location in Utah will help make the movies and the show feel more connected imo. As well there are only 3 movies to compare the show to versus 87 eps for Kim Possible.

There are definitely problems with nostalgia culture and with adults not wanting franchises they loved when they were kids to be updated for a new generation but the Kim Possible movie really does seem like a mistake. The transition from animated to live action is always tricky especially when the budget isn’t big enough as seems to be the case for Kim Possible. 

Sofia has a large and very dedicated fan base who will support and follow her in her new role and her talents in acting and dancing and singing will win over most people who might check out the show I think. The show might get some hate but as long as it’s not bad it should do well enough and I don’t think Sofia herself will bear the brunt of any backlash.

at the beginning, they'd be like "we're all in this together guys!" and then a bunch of them die, but they can't give up hope because wildcats. this should be a thing.

im laughing because youre right this should be a thing. ive talked about dr/hsm crossovers with multiple people but tbh they always involve the dangan cast going to east high not a mutual wildcat merder spree

here’s a fun fact!!! after being in hsm the cello guy was arrested for drug abuse and he also robbed a pizza place at gun point
