What do u think of undertale aus if you've seen some ? :p
I find it's impossible to navigate this fandom without running into AUs, so I have seen quite a few!
I'm not involved with any AUs, and Classic has always been and always will be my favorite, but I am familiar with the vague concepts of a few AUs, or at the very least I know what their Sanses look like (approximately)
Underfell and Underswap are the two big ones, as far as I'm aware, or maybe just some of the first-er ones? I was aware of them way back in 2016 when I first got involved in the fandom. I honestly have no clue about any of the lore or story of either; I know that Swap is just. Personality swap. Pretty par for the course in fandom. No clue what Underfell actually is though- it's been described to me as just 'edgy Undertale'; a version where the whole underground lives by the principle of 'kill or be killed'.
Horrortale I only really encountered more recently; I'm not sure if that's because it's actually new or just came to be at some point between my first foray in the fandom and my more recent re-involvement. I think the concept is super cool- that the whole underground went insane from isolation after Frisk left- (I think) but I haven't been able to really get into it personally.
Dusttale just makes me sad. I don't know a lot about it, obviously, since I'm not actively looking at any AU content, but from what I know it's a version where Sans decides after so many resets the only way to stop it all is to kill everyone himself to level up. Once again, super cool concept, but really depressing?? And personally I don't really feel like it's something Sans would do- he may be generally apathetic, but he cares about the people around him. I suppose anything goes once you've been kind of driven insane, though, to be fair.

I find the fascination with Sans across different AUs fascinating. No matter what AU you look at, Sans always seems to be the star of the show- to the point where, even in all the AUs I talked about above, he (and MAYBE Papyrus) is the only one I've really seen art of in those AUs. I think I've seen a little bit of Swap or Swapfell Alphys and Undyne (don't ask me about AUs of AUs, I would have no idea; I barely know the regular AUs), but only by one artist, reposted without credit on Pinterest. It's to the point where the most often I've seen these AU Sanses isn't even in their own universes-- It's interacting with OTHER SANSES. MAYBE an AU Papyrus. There's like, an entire separate branch of fandom that's just all the different versions of Sans hanging out. That's WILD to me. In fact, the reason I recognize the sheer number of AUs I do (well, only their versions of Sans, actually) is just because I've seen so much content of the different Sanses just. Hanging out. Interacting.
Like I said, I don't really have a lot of interest in AUs, even though I appreciate the concepts; that being said, through fandom osmosis, I am able to identify/recognize:
Nightmare, Error, Geno, Fresh, Swap/Blueberry, Fell, Horror, Dust, Death (?), Dream, Murder (? is that one different from dust?), the one with a target on his chest??, Ink, and probably a few others that I'm just not thinking of. I've also heard of Mafiatale but idk much about it other than a few isolated comics I saw on Pinterest. Similarly, I've heard of Farmtale(?) because I've seen a comic or two where other AU Sanses fall into his world.
It's kind of impressive, honestly, considering the fact that I do not seek out AU content at all- this is all entirely just through seeing stuff while trying to look for Classic content- almost all of which is completely separated from their AU worlds and focused more on the Sanses interacting with other versions of themselves.
(oh, also, I guess technically Handplates falls into AU category! I consider it so close to classic that I didn't think to put it here; in my mind, it's less of an AU and more of just an interpretation or extrapolation of Classic. I'm a fan)
--
ALL OF THAT BEING SAID!!!
I consider everyone's own interpretation of Sans (and all other characters) as their own Sans- it's a fun way to look at it; you can't 'get it wrong', because every interpretation is its own individual. I like to think that every download of Undertale is its own version of the world, and so everyone gets their own cast to be friends with and have fun with! So, in my case, that means that MY copy of everyone never had to deal with full resets (only the couple times where I died and got sent back to a save point, never a full reset) and now they're living happy on the surface. Same with my original copy from way back in 2016 on the family computer. Then I have another of my own, separate copy of the UT cast that exists in my art! If that makes sense!
I hope this answer was satisfactory and not too terribly long!!! If you guys want to request AU characters I might draw them but I won't make any promises; like I said, my interest, and therefore my art, focuses on the classic characters. But! Some AU designs are cool so I might take them for a spin if asked.
What do you think would be the first thing the skeletons (UT, US, UF, & HT Sanses mainly and any Papyruses if you feel like it) do once they get to the surface?
This is a good one! Right...i did them all lmaoo, the HorrorTale bros are quickly becoming my favorite they're just so ::3 <3 anyways I hope you guys enjoy this was really fun to think about and write!
Undertale:
Sans:
Not surprising but seeing the stars is the first thing he wants to do. He's waited his entire life to see them, listened to stories and read old star charts that fell underground and from before monsters were even forced underground. For the day he spends it with Paps exploring the city, at night they walk back to the mountain to gaze at the stars, he cries when he sees them too.
Papyrus:
It would probably be taking Sans out to explore with him so he can get even more ideas for future plans. While exploring he's trying to cross off the next big thing off his list which is making some new human friends! Doesn't really work out too well in the beginning as he scares a lot of people accidentally but he's not going to let that stop his adventure for that sweet sweet friendship
Underfell:
Red:
Finding somewhere to get a drink. After everything that just happened with the barrier braking, seeing the sky for the first time, tasting fresh air ect. Red needs a fucking drink. It's half in celebration and half to calm his nerves.
Edge:
He's with his version of Undyne making sure the monsters stay in their lane and nothing bad happens. Damage control basically. When he has some free time he goes for a quick nature walk to scope out the area, he'll take a minute to genuinely rest for once and enjoy the peaceful scenery surrounding him.
Underswap:
Blue:
Much like Papyrus Blue hits up the city for some exploring. He's a curious fellow and he wants to see what this entire new world has to offer to him. He'd window shop while pointing out new interesting things to Stretch who he dragged along. Wants to try some human food as soon as possible he's insatiably curious about some and he gets street tacos as his first meal above ground.
Stretch:
He's being dragged around by Blue lol. Not that he minds, he takes in the sights of the city sort of mesmerized. When Blue asks where he wants to go he'd either choose the botanical garden or an arcade. When Blue gets human food he's getting a corn dog and is disappointed when the stand doesn't have honey for it. Good thing he has his own.
HorrorTale:
Axe:
He secures food for him and his brother. He literally hunts down the first animal he can find and kills it to make sure him and his brother have food that night. If he hadn't eaten recently he might go a bit overboard and overhunt resulting in a small pile that he sits near and growls if anyone comes near.Once his dinners secured and Willow is by his side he enjoys the suns rays on his bones and drifts off to take the best nap he's had in years.
Willow:
Honestly my boys crying. He cloud watches as the first thing he does. Of course most of the monsters are immediately entranced by the sky and Willow is no different. He spends a good amount of time simply watching the clouds drift by and feeling the sun warm his bones. He's at peace for once and gods does he deserve it. Once he's done cloud watching he's gonna prepare the food that his brother caught for them while happily exploring the surrounding woods.
Horrortale: Rotten Apple - Chapter 18
Hello!
New chapter! Surely, Undyne murdering the human who came to help them won't have any consequences... Right?
Read the chapter right here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/29719053/chapters/215937456
After years of lock down under Mont Ebott, the Monsters thought that Frisk's fall would finally put an end to their miserable life. Because they was pacifist, everyone thought freedom closer than ever. But Asgore's murder deadly hit every last piece of their hopes and dreams.
The events are getting out of control. Undyne and Toriel engaged a no-mercy fight to get the throne, each one with extreme opposite ideas. If the old queen wish for peace to come back, Undyne, traumatised by her mentor's death, only wants a war that would sign the end of humanity.
Far away from all these politics, Sans is waiting. He knows that Frisk never would have kill Asgore on purpose and that they are far from the horrible monster described by Undyne in her destructive propaganda. For the first time in a while, he's still holding on the promise the kid made : coming back to break the Barrier. That dangerous way of thinking might cost him everything he ever had down here.
But the day the CORE stopped working, all of them will have to make dangerous choices despite friendships and betrayals. Down here, it's walk or die.

Poplar: I just saw a TikTok of someone saying they're "never buying garlic again" after they discovered "this hack" and literally planted garlic in their backyard to grow more. Brother, do you think you just discovered agriculture???

Can I catch Tilly under that mistletoe?👀
-kq
Tilly... is very tall. Anyone with any sort of optical muscle at all could tell you that.
The cabin's ceilings are ridiculously tall for no apparent reason other than to accommodate his towering height - which also makes hiding things, especially above him, extremely difficult.
Throughout the week leading up to Gyftmas, you attempted to catch him under the plant, but he catches it each time, sighing and blaming Midas for his trickery while he takes it down.
Midas... yeah... haha.
Now, Gyftmas morning is here, and all you have to show for your efforts is your disappointment and a weird feeling of rejection that bubbles up in your belly. You decide to give up, distract yourself with the festivities. Why shouldn't you enjoy the good food, good company, and fun games that the skele-house provides?
You may not be able to kiss the skele you were wanting to, but you can still spend some quality time with him and that's enough for you.
You sit next to him by the Gyftmas tree during a quiet moment, offering the gift you worked on so hard for him - a crocheted sweater, because he always talks about how hard it is to find clothes in his size.
Just as his starts tearing at the wrapping paper - a big shadow engulfs you both. Bear... holding a mistletoe plant above you both, looking at it confused.
"bee told me... to ask you what this is...?" He rumbles, watching you curiously. You flush, and Tilly's sunken sockets widen beneath his glasses.
All you see is a chance.
"Bear, Put-"
You stand up, pressing a kiss to his sharp cheekbone, grinning all the while. A dusty orange blush engulfs his skull as he turns to blink at you in surprise - glasses falling slightly out of place.
You giggle, readjusting his frames while catching Bear's knowing look from the corner of your eye. The sneak! He knew.
