JUMPSCARE, well it's not really a jumscare if you've seen me reblog your stuff but JUMPSCARE NONE THE LESS, man it's been like what , ¾ years, back when I spelled well like wheel due to my dyslexia. How's it going? I got a job :D…
Ok, lets get straight to the point, I've been having a HTF resurgence for the past week and I want to satisfy my tween fourteen year old crush on this guy, so here.
Continuation on these old headcanons (mind you, the link in the post doesn't work anymore, sad face, but to sumurice, it was a tumblr post about a tweet by (i can't remember) that said something along the lines of “Flippy is just a normal guy who just happen to have really destructive PTSD” or something like that.
WARNING: Some suggestive stuff, implied rape but the act wasn't comited (NOT at the hands of our boys), i proofread this once.
Over time I imagine that you and Flippy find ways in coping with your PTSDs, although not always effective, it's helped curb some hard learning curves. Usoly after an episode Flippy would spend the rest of the day in his bedroom, trying not to relapse and just rest. You're usually by his side comforting him or at the grocery store getting comfort food, if you're not dead. If you were the one to spiral into yourself then Flippy's there. Wrapping you up in the knitted blanket he gifted you on your anniversary, accompanied with some well needed backrubs and forehead kisses. He'd encourage you to at least try to go outside into your shared backyard for some fresh air if you're of mind.
Oh btw, you and Flippy live together now. You decide to move into his house for the convenience of his being bigger than yours, selling your old one. The differing furniture decorating the home, while rather polarising to houseguests, gives Flippy a more homely feeling then he did before you moved in. The clashing furnishing becomes one with the tranquil background of your shared home as you two learn to live together. Something that became apparent fast is that Flippy is a morning person, usoly setting an alarm on work days. Sometimes he forgets to turn it off on weekends, his groan of annoyance the only response you get as he scrambles to silence the blaring bugle. On top of waking up first he also makes breakfast for the both of you, while he's not a michelin chef his cooking rivals their work. Mainly because he took into consideration your allergies and preferences, aka the little secret ingredient called love and the love he makes to you ahem.
Flippy isn't shy when it comes to pda, hugging, handholding and kissing is just the norm to him, but there are acts that leave him hot under the collar. Like being tugged by his shirt into a passionate kiss, caressing his arms with a teasing touch, or rubbing his thigh when sitting next to each other. He tries to mask his excitement with a half assed pokerface, making him look dumb, you can't help but laugh. It makes him crack, smiling in return at your joy. This doesn't mean you're off the hook. Depending on how bad you teased him, he's sure to deliver the same tortuous treatment two fold when you get home. Flippy is a generous lover, truly, he'd give his life for you if it came to it, and it has. But he has limits, only in the privacy of your home does he show you the full extent of his scars. A chiseled body molded after years of tedious training under the smoldering sun, all on display just for you. And he's sure to love you, up and down, inside and out, all night long. Despite his mean attitude he makes sure you're enjoying yourself through the whole ride, and generally tries not to leave any marks where they would be visible. If he accidentally nicks you or plants a bruise a bit too high on your collar bone he's profusely sorry and bashful the next day.
Ngl, at first i didnt know what to do with Fliqpy, mainly because I based how I write him mostly off the show. And honestly there's only so much you can do with a character that's just used as a vehicle for massacre, that was until I rewatched “Hide and Seek”. Fliqpy's behavior just seemed a bit different in that episode, like, heah, he kills but it's with a lot less bravado, if that makes sense. Like he's scouting his new surroundings, as if this is his first time he's fronted since the battle field. And it wasn't till he became knowledgeable of his new surroundings that he started to gain back that confidence to take time in his murders. And that opened the floodgates.
Fliqpy is well aware of what the war does to a person, he just doesn't particularly care, he will subject anyone in his way to his twisted whims. It's only when you show up in his vicinity where he switches gears, otherwise it's out of sight out of mind for him. He might not harbor the burning passion his counterpart does but he'll dose the town in gasoline if it means keeping you safe (no, he won't do the dishes). However, if you're too far gone he will mercy kill you, the only life he takes with a twinge of hesitation. On the rare occasion where he's forced out at home, 9 times out of 10 he stays the whole day with you in the comforting darkness of the closet. He's pretty easily consolable when in those conditions. Though it's a different story if he sees hickeys riddling your body, misinterrupting the love marks for bruises caused by a violent, grotesque, altercation. Fliqpy has only known violence, so it never crossed his mind that said bruises were inflicted by a lover, let alone him. He's barely able to hold in his rage, because despite his insatiable blood lust for carnage and gore, and the joy he takes at seeing his adversary's grovel at his feat, he had his limits, and this was it. He throws you his jacket before he goes out to relieve his stress by grinding some ingrates brains into the pavement with his heavy military boots, vowing that he'll someday find the skumbag who did this, and blow their brains out.
Note. It wasn't till yesterday when I was laying in my bed ready to go to sleep when I realized how this last part looks like. I explained in the second last bullet point how Fliqpy might me capable of change (kinda) and then I just hit you with the “he thought you were taken advantage of”. It gives of bad webtoon vibes that uses rape as a toll to get the main lead closer with the love interest, and not treating it like the soul crushing experience it is. This was not my intention, guess it was just vaguely written enough that the warning bells in my head didn't go of, eughhhh, something something autism and being bad at tonal shifts. It's not an excuse but an explanation, so in other words, opss, i intend on rectifying this, someday. Goodbye.
GOOODDDDD this is so good. I honestly don’t think I can add all that much to it lol XD and I get that, sometimes you just don’t realize how things sound until later. I’m gonna do my best to add my own thoughts but beware, the brainfog sucks. I enjoyed this a lot! I really need to sit down and watch the show again sometime.
I’ll add more of a ‘lead-up to what you have’ thing. I was reading back over what you sent and it got me into a ‘how did we get to this point’ mindset, and I have my own thoughts on how a relationship with Flippy would probably start. What I can manage:
• I definitely agree that Flip would be domestic as hell (I know for a fact I’ve already talked about that in my own headcanons). It’d definitely take a while for you to get close to him in such a way in the first place, though. He’s pretty friendly in the show, but I imagine when it comes to one-on-one interactions, he can be more withdrawn, depending on circumstances. Knowing about the whole ‘Fliqpy’ thing to a degree, I’d imagine he tries not to get too close to others, emotionally speaking. It takes a lot of sticking around and being there for him to get him to let you in, bonus points if you’re there for him in the aftermath of any of his episodes.
• It makes him feel like he’s not alone. I’ve talked about this previously as well, but I headcanon that Flip is… sort of on his own. He came to Tree Town (or whatever you want to call it, I think I remember calling it this name back then) to escape his past. A new start, fresh faces who didn’t know the weight he carried. An escape from his ‘failures’, from the familiar faces whispering behind his back, the disappointment in the faces of those he held dear.
• In a twisted way, he got his wish, even still. Most people don’t remember his episodes. The only one I remember knowing is Flaky, and that’s just because Fliqpy doesn’t always kill them. Every time he flips out, at the end of the day, he still has what he asked for. A sort of ‘monkey’s paw’ type situation, really. So having someone who knows and actively chooses to stay makes him reevaluate himself.
• I personally think he’d probably felt that he was doomed to be alone for the rest of his life. Not even just romantically, but in general. He’s surrounded by the other inhabitants of the town, sure, but outside of surface level interactions, he’s alone. He doesn’t let anyone get close. He already hates knowing that he’ll hurt them all, knowing that they’ll never remember it, that they’ll always end up smiling at him like he’s not a monster. But actually getting close to them? Having close friends and knowing that he’ll kill them sooner or later? That they’ll still see him as a friend? That might destroy him.
• It’s why he’s conflicted about you. On one hand… you didn’t run when you found out what he is. What he does. The part of himself that he can’t control. It makes him think that maybe he isn’t as bad as he thinks; if you can look past it and see him, who he is as a person, and like what you see, then maybe he isn’t irredeemable. On the other hand, he’s terrified of hurting you, of proving himself right.
• The only thing that proves to him that he deserves having you close, weirdly enough, is the first time he… or rather, Fliqpy… kills you. More specifically, the aftermath. You’d gotten close to him in the time prior, closer than he’d allowed anyone else to get in a while. He’d tried to stay away from you after that… but he didn’t anticipate how stubborn you’d be upon realizing that something was wrong with him.
• More or less cornered, he had to do his best to stay calm. It helped that you weren’t forceful; you were just firm in your execution, making sure that he knew that you were concerned, that he could tell you anything. Doing your best to not make him feel trapped. Enveloped by his guilt and pushed past his own walls, he ended up breaking down in front of you, revealing what he did… what he could remember, at least. Small glimpses. Flashes, really. The feeling of bones breaking under his paws, the sound of flesh being rended from its source. More vividly, coming back to his senses with your blood on his paws, his fur stained with a crimson hue that was already starting to rust at the edges, making the fibers stick together.
• But… you didn’t run. Somehow, despite everything he’d anticipated… you stayed. Comforted him, assured him that it wasn’t his fault, did your best to make him feel better. That was probably when he fell for you, even if he didn’t quite realize it yet. You brought him back to his house, sat him down in his armchair before heading to his kitchen. After a little while, he ended up following after you, his ears guiding him to the sound of pans quietly clanging and the sound of something cooking on the stove. He stopped in the doorway. As he stared at you, something shifted in him.
• That day was what changed everything between the two of you. He found you getting closer, found himself becoming more and more willing to let you in. It got to the point that even the other townsfolk caught notice, resulting in him getting teased a bit by some of the others.
• The next time he flipped out with you around, it was… a bit different. You didn’t panic, at least not like one would expect. Maybe that was part of why it wasn’t as brutal as before. Gradually, even Fliqpy got used to you. You ceased to be a threat in his eyes… even if none of the three of you can tell when exactly that happened.
• For a long time, Fliqpy was just… the tagalong, in a way. Even once you and Flippy started dating, he was more like the ‘extra’ so to speak. Not intentionally on your part, it just took longer for Fliq to gain an interest in you outside of understanding that you were Flip’s partner, and therefore doing his part to protect you if he felt it was needed.
• Honestly, he really had no idea what to do with you. He wasn’t exactly used to kindness, or… well, being perceived positively in general. It took a good while for him to start to personally value you, to view you as important to himself, not just to Flippy.
• It started small. Little things, things with plausible deniability. Really, one of the most telling things was that Fliqpy would seek you out in the aftermath whenever Flippy flipped out. Sure, he could blow it off by acting like it’s just from him understanding you not to be an enemy. Just retreating to safe territory, or wanting to calm down with an ally. It technically wasn’t wrong, but it wasn’t the full story.
• In reality, he’d be there to watch you. Fliqpy found you… very interesting. He was used to fear, to aggression… really, any reaction to him other than yours. You were an outlier. He’d tell himself it was just curiosity, or scoping out his surroundings, but he knew he was lying to himself. He was fascinated. Perhaps even obsessed.
• You’d be minding your own business, maybe in your house, maybe somewhere out in the town, when you’d suddenly get the feeling of being watched. It only took a few times of this happening for you to realize it was Fliqpy. After all, no one in town is really the ‘hide and watch’ type; if they want to interact with someone, they’ll approach them (well, maybe with the exception of the twins… but they’re an outlier and only do it to steal from people lol). That, and well, the obvious sounds of violence in the general vicinity beforehand were also pretty telling.
• With Fliqpy, it was… odd, for sure. He didn’t really know what to do once he’d realized that he was actually interested in you. He didn’t really have much life experience outside of… well, the obvious… so he didn’t have much of anything to fall back on. He knew the gist of what one was supposed to do to show interest in someone else, so he did try that (bless his heart). It was… um… awkward. And it didn’t take long for him to put that on the back burner and try his own thing instead.
• It’s, like I said, mostly small things. In some instances, you could honestly interpret it as either being Flippy being sneaky or as being Fliqpy doing it. Little handmade gifts, for example. You’d first thought it was Flippy leaving these little trinkets around for you to find, but that was quickly thrown out the window once they started appearing in stranger places (you still have no idea how that carved figurine was placed in that one spot in your house— you could barely get back there to grab the thing, and you’re more familiar with the space than either bear is!). And the small variety of gifts also played as a hint. Flippy’s gifts back when the two of you started dating were of a wider variety. Baked goods, woven things— blankets, accessories, and such— wood-carved items, things he’d seen in stores that had reminded him of you.
• Thankfully for everyone involved, Fliqpy never left anything, uh, messy. He knew well enough to know that it wasn’t a good idea to do anything regarding his whole ‘killing people’ thing. Honestly Fliqpy himself leans rather into ‘yandere’ territory a good bit, but that’s not exactly the topic here.
• In that vein, I’d say that the thing that led to the two of you getting involved more intimately than you had been previously was probably the first time Fliqpy killed somebody for you. I won’t go into details (imagine any scenario and details you want lmao, reader’s choice!), but seeing that (or the aftermath of it, at least) made it pretty clear to you how he felt. It was left unsaid, but the two of you came to an understanding.
• Fliqpy’s a lot more heavy-handed in his physical affection than Flippy, honestly, when he actually feels like it, albeit he’s still rather gruff about it. Otherwise, he’s rather reserved. He mostly shows affection through acts of service, even moreso than his counterpart. He’s not really one to verbally say how he feels.
GODDDD I did not expect this to be so long lmao. I’m pretty sure this is the most that I’ve written in a day in a long time. I hope I added some food for thought for you to mull over (aka go crazy over), and I hope you enjoyed this! Sorry if it’s not what you expected. :)
