🧁 Wed 22 Jan ✈️
Louis tweeted "just landed back from LA" this morning, which would be bizarre if we didn't know it was for the implication that he had gone to spend Freddie's birthday with him. Yesterday's conundrum for antis was bad enough- their story is that Eleanor posting Cliff means she and Louis are together while larries say it means Louis is out of town and she's dogsitting, but in this case they want to use it to mean that Louis is out of town visiting Freddie oh oh- but it was completely trumped by the time and space paradoxes raised by today's new data. The first problem being that if Louis was in LA all weekend, he wasn't spending time with Freddie there; the child was in Utah and Louis would have been able to squeeze in like two hours with him in LA before getting on a flight back to the UK. That's practically a plausible trip to have made though compared to the picture that emerged almost immediately after- a fan pic placed Louis in Copenhagen on Mon night! Antis were quick to say it was last Mon but the fan was like nah, the 20th. And then Louis, given the choice of thousands of mentions, selected one tweet to respond to- what were you doing in Copenhagen, asks the fan (who is clearly in the thick of this discourse but playing it cool.) "Doing vocals with Helene," Louis blithely answers (presumably while watching this discourse play out, also playing it cool), which makes sense as Helene is usually with him right before shows- this time he just went to her instead. So could he have flown to LA in the time between Mon night and his arrival back home Wed morning? Technically yes, he could have spent a couple of hours (literally) there and have just foregone his usual right-up-to-the-show vocal practice for this major televised appearance, it's not like he's a known perfectionist and worrier or anything like that. It has been noted however that a flight from Copenhagen arrived at Heathrow just before he was spotted there this morning... Anyway the tabs got to print their articles about him and Freddie, I guess the Freddie stans are happy??, and those of us who want to can just laugh at it all. Strategically, you could say it was well played but UGH! Come the fuck on!! ***. **.
Wherever he was, Louis arrived back home in time to head over to the One Show, it happened, he was great, the public loved him of course, the public loved Walls. The appearance predictably pushed Walls up the iTunes charts rather spectacularly (and Louis liked a tweet pointing this out, along with one about his album getting to number one for that days preorders) which many took as an opportunity to.... criticize his promo??! The common refrain being "look promo works why aren't you guys doing this." I'm genuinely fuckin baffled at this point y'all like... they literally did do that! JUST NOW! Who do you think booked that? The fans? Clifford?! Some people aren't even happy while they're literally talking about the fact that they're getting what they want I don't even know what to say. Anyway, also today various pre-album ramp up posts, and another event was announced- a screening/Q & A/meet and greet in London Feb 4. The screening will be of a director's cut of the three linked videos, and the Q & A will be with both Louis and Charlie Lightening.
Niall took fan pics outside the BBC radio one studio in London, and everyone wants to know what he was up to there! Will we find out soon? Who knows. How did the fans know to find him there, you ask? They DIDN'T they were hanging around hoping to catch Louis at his One Show filming, lol. I wonder if Niall was shocked to find a gathering of directioners at his unannounced errand!
Liam was papped in LA and the Hugo Now campaign is suddenly in high gear with both Liam and the company posting lots including new ad spots. If I was a millionaire I would allow myself more than a week and a half off work when I said I was gonna take a break but Liam's dogged work ethic is only one of the many ways in which we differ! Hopefully he's in LA for some leisure as well as professional commitments- in any case, he's back to it, hopefully refreshed and feeling as good as he looks in the pics.
And last but not least, Aidy Bryant (SNL) praised Harry for his willingness to "get down on all fours and eat garbage."
The singer caught up with PEOPLE ahead of the launch of his new Hugo Man fragrance campaign
Liam Payne's flawless Instagram selfies have his fans and followers convinced he needs to "drop the skincare routine," but the 27-year-old singer and frequent Hugo Boss collaborator swears he doesn't actually have much of a beauty routine.
"I wish I did!" the One Direction alum quips, when asked about if he has a daily grooming regimen. "Day collagen and night collagen are the only things that I would say I really use. And then, a couple of different moisturizers. But I wish I was as organized [enough] to have a routine."
Another thing the star incorporates into his minimalistic routine on a daily basis? Fragrance.
Payne was recently named the face of the newest edition of the iconic Hugo Man, which is relaunching with a bottle and outer box designed with sustainability in mind. Available now on macys.com, the earthy smooth fragrance has notes of green apple, fresh mint, lavender, sage, fire balsam, cedarwood and patchouli.
"It's fresh. It feels great. And for me... I mean I'm biased, because I have the whole different story behind shooting the campaign. Every time I spray it, it kind of takes me back to being on that rooftop in Berlin. For me, it's a good feeling."
The new Hugo Man campaign is "inspired by the power of self-expression," according to the German luxury brand, and "fuses the energy of an iconic scent with the passionate, rule breaking spirit of the modern Hugo tribe." It captures "a generation that strives to do things their own way and believes life is there for the taking," the Hugo Boss states.
Payne says that, as a musician, this concept hits home. "If you don't express yourself in the right way, then you just never really make it. It's very easy to copy other people who are doing well and you can see are quite successful," he shares. "I think that's one of the battles that we have to maintain with ourselves every day doing this job. So, it's very important."
The singer also tells PEOPLE the new spot was shot amid the pandemic, explaining that his work schedule hasn't really slowed down since coronavirus hit. "I'm quite tired!" Payne quipped. "One of the most difficult things about the pandemic is working from home and trying to balance your personal life with your work life, when there's not really that closing door between the two places."
Still, the star managed to find silver linings throughout 2020. "I think it's allowed all of us to stop taking as many things for granted, and to be a bit more thankful and grateful I feel, for what we have...it's quite a beautiful thing actually."
Hugo Man, originally launched in 1995, has been revamped with a new logo, flacon and a striking new visual campaign starring former One Direction member Liam Payne.
Coty has revamped its Hugo Man fragrance line for 2021. The relaunch includes a redesigned logo, fragrance bottle and a bold new campaign under the banner “#IAMHUGO…are you?”
The revamped Hugo Man fragrance was launched in Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific travel retail on 1 January. It is available in 40ml, 75ml, 125ml an 200ml formats.
The Hugo Man scent was originally launched in 1995 and has been described as a masculine, aromatic-fruity fragrance. It offers crisp green apple, fir and balsam wood olfactory notes.
This year, Hugo Man’s transparent glass flacon has been reimagined with a new flask-inspired design and oversized Hugo logo in red.
The scent has also been updated, bolstered by more sustainable packaging which features a carton made with 98% recycled materials. It also foregoes the use of a single-use plastic film.
The relaunched media campaign celebrates the free-spirited attitude of Hugo Man and stars former One Direction member and British musician Liam Payne. The campaign film was directed by British filmmaker Colin Tilley and stars Payne performing onstage in Berlin, which is the spiritual home of the Hugo Man brand.
The supporting print campaign was shot by acclaimed fashion photographer Alasdair McLellan and shows Payne on a Berlin rooftop with the city’s famous TV tower in the background.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOUIS!
Louis turned 28 today! Sounds fake on so many levels but it's TRUE! We're truly living in the future y'all, we made it. He has a huge year ahead and how fitting that it's his 28th! I can't wait to see what kind of surprises are in store. He tweeted thanks for bday wishes and happy Xmas tomorrow in advance and was with his family. Jordan Green blessed us with two pics of Louis, one taken by a mysterious figure in the mirror whose outfit has been compared to a recent one of Harry's, and we got a present: fan favorite Defenceless (it's me. I'm the fan whose favorite it is) was officially registered. We already got the news that it was on the album but after the terrible scare of being told it wasn't going to be every scrap of reassurance is appreciated. Charlie Lightening captions a Louis post "looking forward to the year ahead" for the second time recently, so it looks like we can expect more collaboration there even though the three video series is supposedly finished.
Liam won the Christmas greetings game, posting "Merry Christmas ya filthy animals" in a Santa hat, and also a behind the scenes of the Christmas song video. This opens with some pretty good advice from Liam! He talks about how much pressure there is to be happy at Christmas when in fact it's one of the most tense times of year with all the expectations and says it's okay to just make it through and not live up to that expectation. Good call Liam! Thank you! And he has something new out: a perfume! He and Stella Maxwell are the faces of 'Hugo Now.' My past got me here. My future is yet to come. My time is now! is the campaign slogan which is a lot of philosophy for a perfume to take on but kind of inspiring I suppose? At least in writing, the actual ads that were posted go by much too quickly for any philosophising.
Harry recorded sweet and sincere Christmas wishes for the BBC, reminding us to TPWK over the holidays and think of the Lonely and maybe invite them over for Christmas dinner. If he referenced any other Fine Line songs in the message I missed it, lemme know. He also tweeted wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas time (hey there's another song reference!!) and thank you for all the support this year, I love you.
We got more pictures from the children's hospital in Atlanta of Niall being cute with the kids, and he sent holiday wishes (Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas!! Enjoy x) and suggested we buy NTMY tour tickets.
