I don’t get people who still see Neanderthals as these stupid, barely human oafs. The Moment I heard what Shanidar cave was I knew they were like us.

Burring the dead? Sure, everyone does that. But the flower necklace, that takes time. That takes care. That shows a capacity to think about concept like the afterlife. Their friend died and they did not continue on like mindless animals, they exercised their capacity for love and set them to rest the way they knew how.

If you cannot see them as more alike us after that, that may reflect more on you than the Neanderthals themselves.

there’s something so beautiful about how it’s normal for a first kiss to be a funny story. ask any adult about their first kiss and they’ll probably blush, shake their head, and give you the full name and story, while laughing at themselves and looking back.

nobody gets dreamy eyed and recounts the romantic dinner date or rooftop sunset. they talk about the terrible movie and the darkness, or the spin the bottle game. that’s what makes them so great. you grow up expecting them to be perfect, but nobody’s is, and that’s what makes them perfect. that’s what growing up is all about.

and I can guarantee, it doesn’t matter what age you have it at. it’s probably going to be awkward no matter what, and that’s okay. it’ll have the same feeling for a 30 year old man just getting out of his shell or a 14 year old just trying to fit in. don’t stress about it :)

For the @portalmovieproject core trio designs I made this space core! I imagined him as a kid obsessed with space, astronaut and going to the moon. So I decided to draw him in a spacesuit that’s way to big for him, but he is happy :D
