Tick Tock.

I can feel the claws Flexing inside my mind, Dissonance sending shockwaves Down my spine, Blood trickling from nose to chin. Blackout spots, Vision blurring, Head spinning, Mind reeling. Heat in my cheeks, & Violence on my tongue. ‘Rein it in,’ they said.

I laugh, A bitter, pained rasp, Scarlet staining my teeth As I lick my lips, The taste of iron a vicious reminder Of the danger That lurks When madness slips its leash.

'Just calm down,’ they said.

Bloodshot eyes roll toward the sky Vivid green muddied by rivers of red; Bruised knuckles Placed delicately On the curve Of an obstinately jutting hip As she says, 'That which is on fire Always - Always - Burns to ash in the end.’

Problem is, They’ve never been a human flame. They’ll never understand what it is To be a grenade barely contained; Explosion inevitable. Not an if A when.
