evolution is too slow
modern society has evolved at a pace faster than our brains and instincts can keep up with. we are living in a world that our ancient survival instincts weren’t designed for. these outdated instincts often sabotage us for no good reason.
if you were outcast from your tribe, you were more likely to starve or fall victim to predators. in that world, fear of rejection and the drive to conform made sense. these instincts helped us fit in, avoid conflict, and increase our chances of survival and reproduction. yet the same brain processes continue today and punishes us for the small and stupid stuff as hard as it did in the age of survival so we get depressed and shit? fuck you stupid brain and hormones and neurotransmitters.
it's like first you felt panic because you had no food. this made sense ofc, you gotta move your ass and find some. but now you will panic because somebody publicly teased you a bit? the same punishment for these two things? same depression if you can't find food after panic and if you can't reply the teaser with a good comeback?
hello. evolution! speed the hell up and properly adapt! ease up on your punishment for small things. fucking overreacting bitch.
so for these reasons i have zero sympathy for humanity or "the natural"... natural can come kiss my ass. we should alter it. we should change our brain chemicals artificially to get rid of cuntly thoughs and obssessions and irrationalities.
imagine with a chip or whatever you could drop your cortisol levels by a percentage. you are stressed so much during job interviews? crank it up to %90 cortisol blockage.
all your friends having fun time at karaoke party but you are terrified? why? something obviously must be silenced in your brain.
Remember the Human Urges posts? I would like to add a behavior that could just be an Eldest Sister thing but: Watch Child. Like, any time I'm in a public place and there is a small Child without a guardian in my line of sight I'm possessed by the urge to Watch until I identify their person it's not even just little littles, like there could be a pack of 13 years olds in the supermarket and I'm automatically watching them like a sheepdog in case I need to bite someone
Sometimes I wish I were a cannibal – less for the pleasure of eating someone than for the pleasure of vomiting him.
Emil Cioran, The Trouble with Being Born, 1973
Every now and then I run into someone who’s like “ooohh I’ve always been drawn to water” like it must be this deep, mystical thing and not at all their basic survival instincts trying to keep them someplace they won’t die of dehydration. Now, I am also a very water-oriented person and I get how it feels, it’s just... IDK, at some point you gotta admit it probably doesn’t mean you were a princess of Atlantis in a past life, ya know? On this note, people who think that animals wouldn’t come up with spirituality of some kind if they ever developed sentience like ours crack me up. We constantly spiritualize aspects of ourselves we don’t fully understand, especially when they trigger the happy chemicals that make shit feel deep. I don’t think there’s any reason they’d be any different.
I think it's an innate human or at least man instinct to want to be on top of things. Not metaphorically I just like standing on stuff or just laying in places. Buildings, tables, cars, everything, just fuckin sitting there.
Human Instincts
Okay so
I’m making a spreadsheet of instincts that seem:
Animal
Both/Either
Human
To try and figure out if I am Therian/Otherkin, or if I’m just being weird, and I am lacking in the human instincts category.
Anyone have any human-based instinct examples? We spend so much time refusing the fact that we have instincts, it’s very hard to find ones most specific to us :,)
Animal-specific and Either instincts are also helpful, but I’ve got quite a few more examples for those already
I headcannon that like Virgil is anxiety and the fight or flight response (an instinct) and Deceit is also self-preservation (an instinct no matter how much you learn to repress it it's still a instinct your born with.) Remus is bark creativity and animal instinct.( Ya know the instinct to hunt, kill, eat, and also too repopulate.) (Yes this is one of the instincts in humans too. We are a predatory species it's also one of the most repressed.)
