yeah sure I'm studying
poses and backgrounds, how to
some time ago I was asked "how do you draw backgrounds and poses?" so here I am, hoping it will be usefull!
-The first thing to ask yourself is "what is my character doing?"
Let's suppose he's looking at the city/horizon, from a balcony or from the top of a building
-What is the easiest way to draw it? (usually a side view is just fine, but you can choose the one you prefer)
-In which other way can you draw it? try different points of view, from the top, from behind, from the front. move your pov in all directions and find the one that fits best with what you want to tell
remember, views from above emotionally detach the viewer, while views from below emotionally invest the viewer more, so if you want to make them feel small or in awe, a lower pov is the way to go ;)
you can also try more relaxed stands
-for the backgrounds there is one big question, "where are they?"
Our character is at the top of a building. What do you see from there? Google is major help in this case (and in all backgrounds cases, for me) because you can find a photo you like, and recreate that, maybe changing the perspective to match the one from the character, if it's needed, or changing some buildings to add monuments or to make it more futuristic
I don't usually do much backgrounds, my bad, so I'll talk about it better in another post
If you have any question on anything I wrote, or if you wish to correct anything I said, ask away!
