The dichotomy between AT's two canon ships when Bubbleline started out in subtext (What Was Missing?, Marcy's sock in PB's bedroom, The Sky Witch and so on) ended up in pure text (kissing in CAWM, the entirety of Obsidian and Gumlee being blatantly gay for each other), meanwhile Finntress was obviously textual at first (kissing and confessing) and would then become the subtext crumb factory of the series (TA never confirming Finn's love interest, Finn mentioning HW with no context to the nature of their relationship, one of FW!Finn's kids looking like a human version of HW + Perpetual Stew also being known as Hunter's Pot, whatever Fionna and Hunter have going on)

It's so interesting to me.
